Back from playing a service and accomplishing a few other tasks...not the least of which was fixing myself a deeee-licious egg sandwich. And boy, did I need it.

Bruce, I suffer along with you on the allergy front, but I have to ask what is going on in October that has incited such allergy reactions?  My allergies always happened in the spring when grasses started growing.   What is out there causing this misery for you?

I was actually wondering the same thing while driving through some lovely countryside this morning. Not that the lovely countryside had a blessed thing to do with it. But I thought about where I was living, and in what years, when I've most been bothered by allergies -- and I don't think any of it was in California. Or anywhere in the western U.S. of A. (I've never spent time in the Pacific Northwest, so that might be a different matter.)

For me, it's mostly been right here in CT, and I believe the years we lived in Florida. So, an eastern thing. I thought about the seasons in LA, October in particular, and the one October that immediately came to mind was 1986 when I'd just moved back there from my year in the Chicago area. I was walking down Wilshire near Western, on a lunch hour, thinking, WOW, it's hot back here. (But, thankfully, dry...) And maybe that was during a Santa Ana because I remember a 101-plus degree day around that time, and that's what was causing the heat. But I don't recall it ever affecting me in an allergies kind of way -- whereas the various summer extremes here are murder...as are other times of year...

I tend to have issues beginning the end of September.  Right now my allergies aren't bad.

Fall allergies for me are brought on by the moldy fallen leaves.

No fall vibes for BK and company!

Or for anybody here.
Unless you do it just before your entrance in After the Fall.

Mold is terrible and it causes me to be depressed.

I had allergies growing up, plus burning lungs at times from the smog.

My worst states for allergies were New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Summers seemed rather mouldy in Pennsylvania.

I would go to LA for a break from the oppressive heat, mold, and allergies during the summers in PA.

I was reading this headline "Suzanne Somers Reveals Birthday Plans with Her ‘Beloved' Husband and Kids After Cancer Recurrence (Exclusive)" and the next thing I read is that she has died :(

Bruce, do you use air filters that target allergens?

Good question.  I do believe they help.

I was enjoying breakfast today when I heard a loud CRUNCH and, yes, there goes an old crown. I’ll be calling the dentist in the morning.

On board; waiting for departure. We are the only ones wearing masks on the plane/in the entire airport.

Hopefully, others will think you’re sick and stay away.

Vibes for a pleasant trip.

Ragweed is one culprit. California ragweed isn’t as treacherous in my experience as Virginia ragweed, but it can still make you miserable. Mold is another.

FOUR!!!  Yes that's right, I filled up FOUR garbage bags of shorts, shoes, t shirts, and sleep pants......and socks and other assorted clothing.....from the BIG BAD closet.  The bags are now in the garbage can and will be rolled out to the street tomorrow.

BEFORE DR JANE & DR JEANNE decry the waste - I can only say that each piece of clothing I touched passed the Maria Rainer test.....as she said about the dress she first wore to the Von Trapp house:

"The poor didn't want this one."

And it's true.

Jrand, I applaud you for getting rid of so much, I certainly need to do more. But I figure you never know what someone else may want. I read, though, that very few donations go to those in the US; most are shipped to Africa.

Our condo complex now collects unusable clothing and even worn out shoes.  The fabric is recycled.

YAY!! Can I send you a few boxes, Jane? (Just kidding.)

We had a speaker at our AAUW meeting last Monday from Thread Up, a nonprofit in Oxford, OH, that does that, too.

Good to hear. I’ll look into that.

Speaking of getting rid of more, I have more of my late neighbor Zen ‘s stuff to go through and need to get cracking.
