It took me a long time to get that one.  Nothing I could think of would work...so many "Not in word list" messages.

George, it was smart of you to only freeze two bars for now.

I agree.

Belated congratulations to DR Elmore on those wonderful reactions to the ballet and to your GENIUS.

LOL! I have never felt like a genius. I write notes, I clean the litter box daily, and wonder why I'm so under-employed these days. I still can't balance a checkbook.

I just unpacked and sorted the Fancy Feast cartons for the kitties. Now I need to put it all away and ponder dinner. Thatch and Stella just had Fancy Feast chicken hearts and liver in gravy.

I wish I had some fried chicken livers.

Speaking of "The Shape of Things," which I first heard sung in a Carnegie Hall concert by Elly Stone, I got an invitation to next Thursday's Sheldon Harnick memorial.

As do I. My toaster has a "frozen" setting which works very well.

I’ve never heard of a frozen setting. A lower setting, perhaps.

Has anyone listened to the "new" Beatles song?

I didn’t listen to it all, but was a bit underwhelmed. Admittedly, some songs grow on me and that has certainly been true of Beatles songs.

DR Jeanne:   Just a thought about your ordeal scheduling your YAG.   I am wondering if the problem is with uncertainty of the ophthalmologist's availability in the near future.  Is it possible he (or she) is facing some life-changing events that may make definite scheduling for now a challenge?

Of course, it would be nice for that office to be able to refer you to a backup doctor, but sometimes that isn't practical.

That is quite possible. They were giving me zero information, just BS replies. Real stonewalling. I resorted to the Senior Card, as I sometimes do, explaining that I’m a senior and have multiple medical conditions and many, many medical appointments. I also explained that the doctor told me that if I had certain symptoms I should call him immediately, as he’d want to see me right away. Is he back to normal hours? Could he accommodate me? Do I need to look for another ophthalmologist? I asked because I feel that these are reasonable patient concerns and kept telling her, “We need to know” and that they were leaving us in limbo.

The admin people who do the scheduling in medical offices are usually young women, who often don’t have much in the way of job skills or experience. You can usually tell when you get a somewhat older person, as they just handle things better. The twenty-somethings have little insight into what life is like for a senior going through the medical maze. I always feel compelled to try to educate them. A family emergency could be any number of things. We understand that the doctor needs time off, but our medical issues don’t suddenly cease because the doctor isn’t available. I feel patients deserve straight answers, which I wasn’t getting.

When I see the doctor for the YAG I’ll bring up the concern I have over my vision, which I’d planned to discuss with him during my now-cancelled annual exam. I suspect more will become clear at that time.

Isn’t Sean Young the obnoxious actress who barged into HHW several years ago and made a real ass of herself? There was an article in yesterday’s NY Times about her. It mentioned some strange behavior.
