Well, it's almost time for me to leave work.  From the looks of the sky, I'll probably have to figure out how to operate the windshield wipers on my new car.  That's OK, though, we really need the rain.

I'll be back after driving home and then taking DH Richard and DS Rob for their first ride in the Vibe (and out to dinner).

Unbelievable cell phone use department:  On our recent trip, we stopped in the Grand Tetons at Jenny Lake, took the little boat ride across, and hiked the two miles or so up to Inspiration Point (and I do mean UP to Inspiration Point--oy).  Anyway, there we are enjoying the view, and up comes this ridiculous woman, SCREAMING into her cell phone that she can't believe she had service there.  And she wasn't even talking about anything important (is anyone on a cell phone?)--she segued into what color she was going to paint her living room.  A bunch of us stared at her and some people made comments, but of course she just kept SCREAMING into her phone, because, after all, she had service.   >:(
Just be glad she wasn't standing at Echo Point!

Shouldn't we just wait for DR Rodzinksi to get back from work, and DR TPunk to get back from California to get their sides of the story?

Welcome to BernadetteFan. Come and join in with us. We are swell people.

Speaking of Bernadette ::) ... yesterday, I received in the mail Bernadette Peters' newly released CD, "Sondheim, Etc., Etc. Live at Carnegie Hall:  The Rest of It," the rest of her live concert recorded in 1996.  I have it in my CD player and it's on pause.  I was reading the liner notes and she wrote (and I quote):

"I Believe In You" is a song Stephen Sondheim gave me for that special evening and hadn't ever been recorded...."

Well, she didn't do her research!  I think we all know that it had been recorded three years earlier!

Now, I'm going to listen to the CD.  Just had to share. ;)

It's nice having my cassette player back up and running.  I'm now listening to one of my most treasured boot's - highlights from "Blood Brothers" with Helen Reddy.

Vincent Bell's rendition of Burt Bacharach's "Nikki" just finished.

And seeing this name from the past, Vincent Bell's rendition of Alfred Newman's "'Airport' Love Theme" just started playing MY Head!

Yes, and Miss Rebecca Luker did a beautiful job on it, too.  But, then it wouldn't be about Bernadette, so, there you are.

Is Bernadette the only self-obsessed professional in the theatrical world?

:D

I think not...it's endemic at all levels, and in all areas of entertainment from what I've observed, experienced and read.

I've never heard it said she wasn't a nice person, although I expect I'll read it here next.

I sit here and read about Bernadette, and I agree with everyone... as I stare at the new BP CD waiting to be uploaded into the iPod.  I just uploaded the Nudie Musical CD into the iPod, however :)

OOOOHHH!!!

And we're in the News!  Well, at least in a New Release from the Williamstown Theatre Festival.

If you CLICK HERE, you will see a link to "Williamstown Theatre Festival Presents leapFROG".  And there are also pictures there too taken during our rehearsal the other day.

Our "weird" performance schedule is also outlined in the Press Release.

Alas, my name is nowhere to be found in the press release, and there's no picture of me either... The Scourge will not be ignored!

;)

*And you can also check out the Press Releases and Production Stills from the Mainstage Productions on that page too.

I had entertained thoughts of announcing I had entered the realm of "widescreen, HDTV" owners by my birthday, but I've considered "other" needs and am happy to wait until my current 11-year-old Sony bites the dust.  I've not had one second of trouble with it yet, so....

Instead, I've just procured an orchestra seat at the Golden Gate Theater to see "Annie" on Sept. 3 (a matinee).  (It's part of the Nederlander/Shorenstein/Hays "Best of Broadway Series).

I hope it's the full original show and not an abbreviated version.

Having worked with Bernadette once, and having met her on several other occasions, I can say that she is a wonderfully nice person - very genuine and sweet.  But, like most stars, it's about her, which is why she either had no clew or chose to ignore the fact that the Sondheim song had been recorded on Unsung Sondheim three years prior.  My guess is that that is where she heard it.

Well, time for me to get ready for Tough Titty.... and then it's off to Goodrich Hall for the Late Night Cabaret...  -I heard a rumor that Roger Rees will be performing "I Got You Babe".... I'm just not sure if he'll be Sonny or Cher.  ;)

Well, had quite a short day at work today...took Mark and James to the airport and then shopped around Portland a bit...got lost and ended up in Lake Oswego because I took the wrong 1-5 exit and "thought" I could easily find my way to Tigard without getting back on the freeway! LOL!

Got to work at 2pm. The power in the Salem downtown area went out at 3pm. We were sent home at 3:30 pm.

I wondered...or maybe because it "is a song Stephen Sondheim gave [her] for that special evening," she just assumed that it hadn't been recorded.

That's what we're missing--the Helen Reddy jukebox musical.  It would tell the intermingling tales of Delta Dawn, Ruby Red Dress and Angie Baby.  Of course, the show's title would be I Am Woman.
