The presentation yesterday of THAT GUY WHO KNEW WAY TOO DAMNED MUCH was incredible. No one has ever seen this film with the clarity - and the sound - it has now. My jaw was on the floor throughout, and it renewed my love affair with what was actually the first Hitchcock film I ever saw.
BK: I don't remember - was it your first Hitchcock, or had you seen any others prior to that momentous day?
BK saw it during its original release. My shot at it was in 1963 when it was reissued on a double bill with THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY. The latter kind of bored little DR ChasSmith then, but he was thrilled with TMWKTM.
It's this and a few handfuls of other superb 4K releases that are nudging my ASS toward upgrading my player to 4K...and eventually the screen, of course, but one can at least watch the discs on one's existing screen.
Here's the Q&A afterward with Janet Maslin (former NY Times critic) and Robert Harris who helped restore the film.
