Today, a friend is bringing me a bootleg CD of the 2011 Ohio Light Opera production of Jubilee. I've aways been curious to hear exactly what the musical director did to my orchestrations since OLO always rescores their productions to fit their orchestra. So, with Jubilee, they cut the saxes, piano-celesta and guitar-banjo and added 2nd Flute, 2nd oboe, 2 bassoons, 2 horns, and 2nd trombone. When the Cleveland reviewer gave my orchestrations a poor review, I was fit to be tied.

And the rhytmn section was just bass and drums?  For a Cole Porter piece?  I'd be interested in that as well.  Doesn't make sense

Good Morning - dreary Saturday morning.  And that's all I'm saying about THAT.  Oh, and if you're a movie goer - go see "Wonka" - it's super good!

Here we are, sitting on the next-to-last day of 2023.

It is definitely Saturday in Johnston, SC.

The only great news I can proclaim is that Third Generation will be open tomorrow for a New Year's Eve lunch, and that is very good news for me.

Enjoy your lunch.

Not I.  I don't think I've even heard of it.

It turns out I was wrong about the piano; it's there but no celesta. The thythm section was two players: drums, marimba, vibes, temple blocks, chimes, bells, etc.

Watching Hitchcock’s Champagne. It’s a silent comedy and okay, not great. It does have some interesting camera work.
