Well, the documentary started to end in the best way possible. They were going to pay tribute to Harkness by showing a full dance. They chose Margo Sappington’s The Kiss, based on the famous Rodin sculpture. Beautiful work. They start with the original dancers and just let them dance. Then they start cutting in with footage of a more recent production. Okay, so the steps are the same, but the bodies are very different. Then they start in with rehearsal footage. Finally they’re overlapping the original with the rehearsal, and the two aren’t the same, so you don’t know who or what to watch. So frustrating.
