Well, you've read the notes, you've had your cup of Joe whilst reading the notes, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're out trying to find a happy cow named Joe.

Harold Arlen favourites:
When The Sun Comes Out
One For My Baby
Over the Rainbow.

I'm not really a fan of Miss Horne.
Did like her "Now" in 1963  and also "Silent Spring"

I did not like the album (Grammy Award winner 1981) of her Broadway show "The Lady & Her Music"at all!

One thing about Ms. Keeler, that the film 42nd Street proved, Rubicund dance circles around her co-stars.

But Helen Ruddy is a great singer.

Almost a Harold Arlen connection:  Dorothy in her rubicunda slippers.

I'm so annoyed that I didn't get to eat something good before bed.  In fact, I feel a bit yucky.

Favourite Harold Arlen song is easy:  OUT OF THIS WORLD.  The Bing Crosby rendition (which is the original rendition).

I'm am not a particular fan of Ms. Lena Horne.  I've always found her somewhat mannered and those arm/hand gestures just weird!

I have also just gotten bored silly, listening to her whine about how she got screwed out of playing Julie in the M-G-M version of SHOW BOAT (the part that went to Ava Gardner).  Sorry, Lena, but you didn't get screwed out of the role.  The part is not that of a black woman, but of a black woman who PASSES for white!  So stop belly-aching about losing a role for which you were never right in the first place.  There was no veiled racism, there was no studio politics, you were just wrong for the role.  Simple as that!

If I had to pick a favourite Lena song, it would be the ubiquitious STORMY WEATHER, I guess.

I made Lena a topic because I am woefully unaware of most of her output - but she's something of a legend so I'm curious to dear readers choices.

My bedtime movie for the last few days has been When Eight Bells Toll.  Has anyone seen this?  I got it cheap, because I read on amazon.uk that the movie was the best non-Bond Bond film ever made.  Once again, these twits who post about these weird favorites for whatever obscure warped childhoods they had have caused me to buy a film which is terrible.  This is one of the most incomprehensible movies ever made and its ninety minute running time seems like five hours.  I'm only half way through it and I feel like I've been watching Lawrence of Arabia.  One thing the film proves - Anthony Hopkins as an action hero does not work.

I, too, occasionally bellyache about losing the role of Julie in Showboat.  After all, I can pass for white, black, green, or rubicund.

I really feel blechhy from my late night repast.  Oh, if I'd only had my In and Out Burger.  Damn them, damn them all to hell.

I'm pretty much unaware of her output too.  I hear her occasionally on some of the weird radio station I listened to and have seen her doing her specialty numbers in the handful of films she made and the That's Entertainment films (one of the places she whinges about "losing" the part of Julie), I may even have her on an old record or two like the soundtrack of 'Til The Clouds Roll By" or "Words & Music".  But I have no albums of her exclusively.  She's a very attractive woman...but really not my cup of tea as a singer.

Isn't When Eight Bells Toll based on one of those Alastair MacLean spy novels?   Never seen the film or read the book.

I haven't deserted.  I ate a Lean Cuisine pizza and a tortilla and I am NAUSEOUS.  I think the tortilla may have outlived its "good" date.

I spy me a Jose.  Too bad you weren't free at the end of the year, Jose - I had to hire me a musical director.

And I bet you washed it all down with a big Diet Coke.  No wonder you feel nauseous.  How's the acid reflux?  Eating that kind of food this late at night....What's the matter with you?  Someone oughta slap you one up the side of your head!

Good Morning!

Just back from the champagne and Goodbye's.  It was nice seeing everyone in one room again... relaxed!  However, all of us are very tired too.  In any case...  I'll be seeing most of them in the city next week, so...

*And I only had a very, very, very, very, very, very small sip of champagne.  Actually, it was more like a "taste".  I was introduced to Veuve Cliquot champagne a few years ago, and, it kind of "ruined" me for the cheaper stuff.  So... Ah, well.. It's the gesture that counts.  A votre sante!

I can find no detailed specifics on this meal you have eaten in today's posts.  You talk about wanting to eat something fabulously fabulous and always ending up eating the same old thing, but that's all I could find.  God!  Am I going Blind!  Or just illiterate!
