DR John G, I'm happy you like the new Three Musketeers. Is it as good as Richard Lester's 2-parter? I have read three three translations of the novel, the first was the Lowell Blair translation in 1973 whiler I worked at the Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival, then I read the Penguin edition translated by Sudley around 1980 or 81. The Pevear translation - he did the celebrated Anna Karenina translation in the 1990s - came out in the late 1990s, and I read it as soon as it was published. I thnk I prefer it to the other two.
I have this vague memory that sometime between 1973 an d 1979 I read the Oxford World Classics edition as well. It's one of my favorite novels.
