Well, you've read the notes, the notes had stories but weren't really that short, and now it is time for you to post until the short cows come home.

This is a rather bleak weekend and following week. I am overdrawn, and, unless the IRS refund or NY Public Library comes through, the overdraft will only worsen with bank charges until June 3, when my pension lands in my bank account. I won't see any money from the work I'm currently doing for several more weeks, but I'm grateful for the work.

DR George, that Continental Baths video of Midler was shot by my friend Vito Russo. I never saw Midler and Manilow at the Continental Baths - I was never in the Continental Baths! - but I did see them and the staggering Harlettes in Cincinnati's Music Hall in November 1973, before they played the Palace in NYC.

Another crazy dream. These past two weeks have seen a resurgence in the frequency and "quality" (if you will) of my crazy dreams.

Some 30 years ago, I assiduously wrote down my dreams for at least a couple of years. I still have those dream journals, and the couple of times I've actually flipped one open to some random page and read a couple of entries, I didn't recognize some of the dreams at all. Even with the written description. Talk about being ephemeral. The epic ones, yes, always. They seem to stick around forever, or at least come back rapidly with the written reminder.

Anyhoo, that was just for a few years, and I long ago stopped writing them down except for the descriptions of a few that I've posted here over the years. I really should dump those journals -- except that I'd want to give them a quick read-through first. Something tells me it'll be harder than I think to let them go. Maybe I'll scan or tear out the pages with the few I'd really want to keep. That would get rid of a lot of bulk.

Well, we've had our bout of heat and humidity, and the day of storms that follow that, and the local weather guy said today is going to be one of those perfect days, weather-wise. The kind you get single days of several times a year and you wish that could be the climate year-round.

I'll take some advantage of it by resuming my work with the weed whacker, and we'll see where I go from there.

It simply couldn't be more perfect for Memorial Day Weekend. The sad thing is that Saturday and Sunday will be a little less good, and Memorial Day itself has already been forecast to be cooler and rainy! That is sadly typical of many Memorial Days. Those are either perfect or they're cool and wet. Of course things could change (a little?) betwixt now and then. We shall see.

I loved many of the answers to yesterday’s TOD. I think of the names mentioned, Blossom Dearie would be at the top of my list. Others include Elvis, Sarah Vaughn, Dinah Washington, Alfred Drake and Ethel Merman.
