Crazy that they used to give out hotel keys with the numbers stamped right onto them.
When I worked at the San Jose Gateway Inn near the airport we were like the last hotel still giving out keys. Once a lady called me frantic from her flight. She’d actually taken her key by accident after checkout. I was like, “just throw it out, no worries.” But Karl Malden or someone like him could have taken the key out of the trash and come back to San Jose to rob people.
It isn't any other way.
