Happy INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!

Today may be the last one we will have as our founders intended!

1.  We have no king.

2.  We have freedom of speech.

3.  We have freedom of, as well as from, religion.

4.  We have freedom of assembly.

5.  We ARE the government:  We elect those we think may govern us fairly and in consonance with our Constitution.  We all have the right to vote and be counted.

6.  We are ALL IMMIGRANTS from different periods of history (since there were no Native American signatories on the Constitution, this remains true).

7.  We have a government of checks and balances, with the President and the Executive Branch, the Congress and the Legislative Branch, and with the Supreme Court and the Judicial Branch.  None is superior to the other, and each is bound by oath to serve the needs and will of the American people.

Never in our history have these things been so perilously close to utter collapse.

I think DR JANE's new word somon should be in the dictionary along with somin.

There is somon the counter.  There are somin the top drawer.

Is that what I typed-lol.  I did it twice and thought I had corrected it.

There will be a holiday barbecue tonight.  We are shocked that the dress code for the evening isn't casual instead of the usual eloquent casual.

Keith isn't feeling well, probably has a cold, and will not dress up.  I will be more casual tonight as well.

Sadly, No. 7 is already compromised, Supreme Court-wise.

Thanks, Freddie!

I think Judy Kaye would make a great Queen in Jubilee, especially after playing the real queen in Diana.

AND she at least sang the roles of three more (Catherine of Aragon, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Parr) for the concert recording of Six Wives.

I think DuBose Heyward wrote the lyrics for "Summertime."
