Seriously...

The only Randy things that come to mind right now are:

Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales"
And a few episodes of "The Simpsons".

Sorry to hear you're under the weather, VixMom.  I just spent the last couple of days feeling the same way, and am SO glad I'm not there right now.

Feel better soon!

The Simpsons has a character named Randy?  I should watch more often.

Did it again!

Favorite Randy Song: "I Never Do Anything Twice," from The Seven Per-Cent Solution.  (Recycled into Side by Side by Sondheim, of course.)

Mornin', all....

Well, the office is already hoppin' and it's not even 11am! The busier it gets here, the more I look forward to the walking tour on the 5th.

Did anyone notice that I've ended a lot of words with apostrophes today? Very unseemly...

I found this on CNN.com today - it talks about the Zoos, Aquariums and Research Centers in the hurricane zone. Thankfully, only 2 otters were killed at the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans, though it sounds like most of the fish at the Aquarium of the Americas died due to the loss of power, ergo the loss of pumps to keep the water oxygenated. The bigger animals at the aquarium were able to hang on, though, which is great news. And at the Audubon Research Center, the only animal that is reported dead or missing is an American alligator. Here's the link:

TOD:

Randy song: Jefferson Starship: Miracles (the full length version that they wouldn't play on the radio in those more innocent days)

Campy Randy Movie: The Rocky Horror Picture Show (starring, of course, DR Pogue's close and personal friend and neighbor, Mr. Tim Curry.)

Good morning!

Another bracing walk this morning (though I had to take a slightly different route due to construction), but I feel tired after the walk and exercise regimen.

Yes, DR Jose, you will cry and cry and cry. The last four episodes or so are very emotional, and with the knowledge that the series is ending anyway makes them even more so.

Randy book?

The first one that comes to mind is VALLEY OF THE DOLLS. When it came out, it was pretty eye-opening, at least for me who was a teen and knew so very little about all the manipulative sexual and business deals that go on in show biz.

Randy play?

Well, again, the first one that comes to mind is PARTY. No artistic merit to it, but it certainly was bitchy/funny, and all that gorgeous nudity was not lost on these eyes.

Randy movie?

BLOW-UP? All the sex and drugs, all revolving around a murder mystery (or was it) certainly kept my eyes on the screen trying to catch everything.

Funny. I haven't seen this since it first came out and got so much press in the 1960s. I suspect it would seem very tame now.

Randy Book?  Hmmm, well if you want a bodice ripper there was The Flame and the Flower... my first bodce ripper when I was about 16, which I was lent by my good friend, who had appropriated it from her Mom's room  :o

Oh and The Harrad Experiment  which I read when I was about 18.  Very shocking!!!!! :o :o :o

I got a huge desire to watch '1776' today. Once I finish NIGHT OF THE HUNTER, I will.

That is, unless the GARBO and THE STING DVDs find their way to my house today (as they're supposed to). If they do, I'll put in THE STING.

Yes, indeed. Congratulations have already been offered to DR Jose for his possible LESTAT job, but now that it's a fact, I am SO very happy for him.

DR Jose, how long do these contracts run? Run of the play? 6 months? One year? Is there a trial period? Curious minds want to know.

After reading a bunch of reviews of REUNION (which premieres tonight), I am feeling torn. Seems like ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY and TV GUIDE gave it good reviews, but our local TV critic and the critic for USA TODAY were very critical of it.

Like most shows (and movies and plays) there is often a direct split of critical opinion, so I guess I'll make up my own mind and watch it tonight. But the pans do give one pause.

I also read this morning a review in VARIETY about a new film called ROMANCE & CIGARETTES. The title did nothing for me, but the cast was so impressive (James Gandolfini, Susan Sarandon, Christopher Walken, many other name actors including some Broadway names like Cady Huffman), I read the review.

It's a musical! No original score but rather rock standards from the 1960s and 1970s are used. It's directed by actor John Turturro.

With all the musical talk centering on RENT and THE PRODUCERS, this film had totally slipped under the radar for me. The review was mixed-to-positive. Looks like it's not going into wide release but rather playing specialized circuits.

Thanks for your comments on the photo, DRMATTH.  When I got to the theatre yesterday, the phone in the box office was ringing and ringing....while the box office person sat in the house and read a book.  "Oh, I didn't hear it."  GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

According to Barbara Seamon's bio of Ms. Susann, it seems to have been rather one-sided on JS's part....and in fact when Ethel found out what was really going on, she was astonished and avoided the young "actress" at all costs.  8)
