You might remember my mentioning a friend named Rebecca from time to time. She and I were young Miami University librarians in the 1970s and became good friends. She was devastated when her husband died in 2020 and eventually stopped even responding to my texts almost 3 years ago.I learned quite by accident last Friday that she’d had a stroke in April, shuttled from facility to facility for 6 months, and died on October 8. While I’m not sure she’d appreciate the exposure, I was grateful to find that her church had live-streamed her Oct. 16 funeral and I could watch the replay.This one’s tough…

There is precious little for me to write about since my last post several days back.i am even more disappointed in some relatives than I previously was thanks to their unremitting obsession with Donald J. Stump and how absolutely right he is for "their" interests.I got a scathing retort from one in-law saying he was very disappointed that I would berate the old bastard for being like Hitler and being a fascist. Didn't I realize the man has a Jewish daughter and grandchildren? How would I like it if someone said something ugly about me in that fashion.I pointed out that I was not quoting me, but the Donald himself, that I was listening to the Donald and why wasn't HE listening? He then told me he did listen, but that the Donald had been good for his business and that it hasn't been the same since Biden took over. I reminded him that when Biden took office, we were coming out a pandemic that had crippled many businesses, primarily because of the Donald's inept mismanagement of it. Biden wasn't going to wave a wand and make things perfect again but that the economy has vastly improved. Nope, he wasn't having any of it. At that point, I scratched him off my "give-a-shit-about" list permanently.
