MBarnum, I am enjoying the Peanuts. I like that they do a version of "The Peanut Vendor".

Behold and Lo!  I've come back from a meeting to find two lovely packages upon my desk!

One is the Stages/Together Again OCR and the Harvey Schmidt Play J & S recording.  The other is my sparkling prize, Ann-Margret in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.  They are all being uploaded to myPod at this very moment.

I just found, sitting around here for the taking, 6 CDs of Decca's "Broadway-America's Music" series. From 1935-2005 they span. Nifty!

I take it  you took 'em?

From the If You Want The Job Done Right.... Dept.

Quote
TOKYO - A Japanese woman called in the police after a hit man she paid to kill her lover’s wife failed to carry out the job.

The 32-year-old Tokyo woman was arrested on Wednesday for incitement to murder, the Daily Yomiuri newspaper said on Friday.

The woman contacted a private detective through a Web site last November and paid him $9,000 in cash to murder her love rival, the paper said.

The 40-year-old detective accepted the money and suggested he could carry out the job by chasing the victim on a motorcycle and spraying her with a biological agent in a tunnel.

Police also arrested the private detective and found the alleged target safe and well, the paper said

That botched murder-for-hire story reminded me of a wonderful scene in "Gigi":

Aunt Alicia (on the phone): "Liane D'Exelmans has committed suicide...again."

Madame Alvarez: "No!  How did she do it?"

Aunt Alicia: "Oh!  The usual...insufficient poison."

In my CD player:  How Now, Dow Jones, the 3-track sampler of In My Life, an interview with Barbara Cook, as well as discs One and Two of DR Ben's very own BBC radio broadcasts...courtesy of DR Ben!

In my VCR:  a tape to tape tonight's "Battlestar Galactica."

In my DVD player:  Kathy Griffin's "Allegedly" and Disney's "The Black Hole."

That's it for now. :)

Oh, also in my CD player:  Emiel Van Egdom's "This Is For You," with special guest vocalist, Cheryl Bentyne, of The Manhattan Transfer, and it also has her husband playing piano (keyboards?) on many of the songs.  A very recent eBay purchase. :D

Someone is selling a sealed copy of New Guy in Town on eBay.  Makes you wonder, doesn't it?  It's obviously a promo I sent out - which infuriates me.  I've been very select about who gets promos, and if I find out who is selling theirs (I only send out less than ten to reviewers) let me tell you how fast I will pull them from the list.  It's cheap right now, so maybe someone who hasn't ordered theirs yet can go win it and tell me who the seller is.

Does anyone remember the very first Movie of the Week?

"Seven in Darkness", with Milton Berle (and Red Buttons IIRC), among others (Lesley Ann Warren maybe?), as blind survivors of a plane crash.  Loved that one--still remember them trying to get across the broken bridge.  :)

Another vintage 1969-70 ABC series (imported from the UK) that I'd love to revisit is "Journey to the Unknown."  I still remember the roller coaster opening and can hum the theme to this day.  I especially remember the episode with Vera Miles (I think--maybe I don't remember, LOL) trapped in the library after closing with the ghost of Jack the Ripper, or something like that.  OK, I guess I definitely don't remember.   :P

Red Bittons - No
Lesley Ann Warren -  Yes
Vera Miles - Yes

(Also Patty Duke)

God only knows what is going on in my office mail room.  Packages have a tendency to sit there for a week or longer.  I've complained to the guy who runs the mail room but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of improvement.  I is fuming about this, I is!

Vixter was lucky enough to have parents who cared enough to read with her.  Alex, now in the 2nd grade, doesn't have that advantage.  His father is too busy doing all the cooking after long days in the construction biz, and Mommy doesn't see why she should bother because she's so "busy" doing everything else (including screaming at everyone).  Since der B and I can't be there all the time, getting every other advantage for the lads is a serious concern around here.

DR SWW - The only part of Jim Dale's audiobook testimonial that I found off-putting was when he suggested using them when parents don't have time to actually sit down and read to the children.

DR MATTH - I forgot that Lucianna was in THUNDERBALL as well....she was hot for a moment or two, anyway.

Bond's quip to the audience after her death is one of the funniest in the entire series of Bond movies.

DR MattH, OMG I loved the finale of Veronica Mars.  I raced over to my sister's house to pick up the videotape she made for me.  Crazy. Surprising. Action-packed.  I love it. I would encourage anyone to pick up the Season 1 dvd or watch Season 2.  This is my one of my most favorite shows!

Until the person's head popped up in that video (showing us the murderer's identity), I was absolutely convinced the person I thought was guilty truly was. I was astounded at the person's identity. All the clues fit, but why I didn't see it before the revelation, I don't know.

I do know that the finale was breathelessly exciting, and I was on the edge of my seat.

Now, as for who I think was at the door, I think I know that, too, so let's see if I'm right.

Its been raining here on and off for two days now. It was so terribly humid last night you could feel the air touching your body.  Horrible trying to sleep!!

Is Ophelia moving away from you there?

I went off my Friday Media List and put in the 1991 DVD issue of BEN-HUR today.

This morning, I read Terry Lawson's (film critic for the Detriot Free Press) review of the new BEN-HUR DVD package, and he mentioned how much improved the sound is in this issue. He said nothing about any picture improvements.

So, I'm eager for someone who has both copies of BEN-HUR and a surround sound set-up to give us the lowdown on both picture and sound from each BEN-HUR DVD set.

Yes, I think it's moved out to sea and is now considered just a tropical storm.

This thunderstorm was a typical summer variety, and I don't think is connected directly to Ophelia.
