Jane, I came across this in a review of the new Count of Monte Cristobfilm:

“There’s a reason Alexandre Dumas’s “The Count of Monte Cristo” has proven so durable: it’s satisfying as hell.”

That sums up my opinion of The Three Musketeers as well.

Thanks for the Postmodern Jukebox link. I rea;lly like them, and I hadn't seen this one before. I would love to see them live. Scott Bradlee is amazing. I have his book, which I look forward to reading.

You're welcome, Larry.  I also have his book (I bought it autographed!), which I also need to read. ::)

Today's a Friday that feels like a Saturday.

I've got two housemates here who are preparing to leave for Howe Caverns in upstate NY for the next two days. They have a special relationship with the people who run that attraction (and the caverns are indeed a magnificent attraction). They had their wedding there in 2012 which helped to revive interest in the place for other people, and last year they started a new tradition of being part of a holiday event for kids by doing readings and stuff in costume. I'm not sure what all it involves, but I know there will be some photographic evidence.

That's really cool, ChasSmith!  Hope they have a wonderful weekend!

I'm afraid the tariffs will be the end of the Dollar (25) Tree.

They will certainly hit hard at Walmart, too. :-\

I lose my pants while I'm mowing the lawn.

When I get out the lawn mower, the neighbors come out on their front porches with lemonade and beer.

I watched some episodes of Space Ghost on Adult Swim.

It still makes me laugh.

No money yet even thought they got the signed title yesterday. This is infuriating, so I've been e-mailing and all I'm being told is that she's waiting for approval. She knows I want my new car and says it will be timely. Well...

And in the middle of that the phone rings and it's Medicare verifying my plan for the new year. She's asking me to verify address and card number and it feels very off to me and I even say that, but I gave her the card number because my head was not in the right place. And, then she starts asking me about my medical history and I put the brakes on and she got off right away. Thankfully, I never gave her the most important thing, social security. I was trying to Google medicare scam and it gave me nothing - after I got off I added scam CALLS and of course there it was. DAMN THEN ALL TO HELL. I'm on the phone now with Medicare fraud.

I reported this to Medicare and United Health Care. They don't know any doctor names or visit dates or that I'm with Cedars for my PCP. They HAD my address, and the only other thing that was bad was giving them the Medicare card number. But my account has been noted and if I see any wacky things at any time, I'll report immediately.

I am so angry with myself for being so damn stupid. I should have stopped the call instantly and said I'd call back the number - that would have told me everything. But I was in the middle of writing an e-mail to my insurance gal and my head was not on straight, even though I knew there was something off about the call from the get-go and I said so several times, which is why I finally said "NO MORE QUESTIONS" and she promptly got off the line.

Hoping any irregularities with your Medicare will be easy to catch, and easy to fix if necessary.

Insurance gal is now telling me 24 to 48 hours to process the title thing. Well, twenty-four hours has come and gone since they got it yesterday at eleven. 48 puts us into tomorrow and I have no idea if they work tomorrow or not. If it comes tomorrow by eleven I can still get to the bank and transfer it to the business account. But if it slides to Monday, that's not good. Anyway, that's where we're at at the moment.

The Medicare thing won't impact me personally - but I don't want them to get away with this crap and have Medicare out of pocket. All they have from me PERSONALLY is my date of birth, which they had, and my address, which they also had. They don't have any banking information or my social security. If I hadn't been dealing with the other thing I would have hung up instantly after the first question. They ask you to verify things and the obvious answer when they ask for a Medicare number is to ask them to read it to you first - that would end it right there. But my he'd was not in the right place.

I mean, I can still go to the car place and give them what I can give them and get the car - they're willing to give me the car without the payment being complete, but I'm nervous to do that until I have this second payment.
