And, when the wind is blowing in the right direction....????

 :o ::) :P

Hmm, hadn't thought of that.  Actually, it's pretty far away, so maybe it'll be OK.

Hmmm... I just checked my bank account on-line... And it appears that a rather sizable check that was written to me last week has been returned for insufficient funds.  Hmmm....  And I think I have a few checks that I've written that are still floating...  Hmmm....

Well, I guess The Bounce is a dance.... Hmm...

:-\

Guess I'll be making a few phone calls tomorrow morning.

I watched JOEY tonight.....I don't know why.  Well, I didn't watch it all...didn't even make it to the first commercial break.  BUT I have been watching sitcoms for MANY years and to my trained ear I must say it sounds as if JOEY is using a LAUGH TRACK and not audience response in several - if not ALL - scenes.

It is not as obvious as OZZIE & HARRIET  which had the WORST laugh track in history - but it was pretty obvious to me.

Crunch Bars
The best crunchy brittle you've ever eaten. No one will guess the secret ingredient!

Prep Time: 10 min
Ready In: 32 min
Serves: 16

Ingredients

  35 Premium Plus Crackers

  1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar

  1 pkg. (8 squares) Baker's Semi-Sweet Chocolate, chopped

  1 cup walnuts, chopped

Directions

1
Preheat oven to 400°F. Place crackers in a single layer on a foil-lined 15x10x1-inch baking pan.

2
Heat butter and sugar in saucepan on medium-high heat until butter is melted and mixture is well blended. Bring to boil; boil 3 min. without stirring. Spread over crackers.

3
Bake 7 min. Immediately sprinkle with chopped chocolate; let stand 5 min. Spread melted chocolate over top. Sprinkle with walnuts. Cool. Cut or break into pieces.

Had a lovely meeting with Cindy.  Went to Grant's and took care of that business and am now home and quite tired from losing so much sleep last night.

And now, because I know you've been waiting with bated and baited breath, here is the Rewind cover.

We just returned from a faboo evening at the movies. We saw All About Eve (we being Jason, Anthony and me). The print was not the best but the company was wonderful and a great time was had. Jason had not seen the movie before but afterwards he was quoting lines with the best of them (I'm 40, Forrrttyyy, Four, Oh, that just slipped out).

A Thursday tradition has been born. Next week is Mildred Pierce, another movie not seen by Jason. Next week perhaps we will be joined by Jose and Larry and other NYers who want to mosey down to Chelsea.

DR JRand - There is that old joke about the comedian whose paycheck came back marked INSUFFICIENT FUN.  Maybe that could be the title of something.

A friend has asked what I know about THE MARRIAGE OF BETTY AND BOO. Other than it once being an off-Broadway show, I know nothing.

Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks.

I always thought that the laughter on FRIENDS was sweetened, as well.  It's mostly noticable to me when the TV sound is set to stereo and the surround effect is on.

Remember hearing Lorenzo Music's laughter during RHODA?

I watched JOEY, too, and they had to have used a laugh track because it just wasn't funny. But, no, I agree. The laughter sounded very phony. Perhaps they're doing what ALL IN THE FAMILY started doing after its first couple of seasons: taping on an empty stage and then bringing in an audience to watch the monitors to provide a laugh track.

I think every comedy show in the hisory of TV has sweetened its laugh track. Even the great shows like I LOVE LUCY had some canned laughter and reactions.

Before JOEY and my other two shows that I watched tonight, I put in BEDROOMS & HALLWAYS, and it irritated the heck out of me all over again. The whole switching sexuality like flipping on a light switch just rubbed me totally the wrong way. The guys were fine to look at, but the plot just kept turning in on itself too much for me to enjoy it past the halfway point. Too bad because there was a lot of talent on display.
