I wish I had taken a jacket on our trip.  Was it pretty up there?

It really was!

Thanks, Jane!  But as far as I know, we only have access to the room (a 600-seat banquet hall) that one day.  I assume that we'll go in early in the morning, set up everything, do a test run and mic check, then give the one and only performance, strike everything and leave.

**I had posted about performing The HEAD!!! That Wouldn't DIE! in Seattle at the Worldcon.

George, hoping a video recording at Worldcon happens!

Thanks, Freddie!  So do I!

I was glad not to be the one driving. I just supplied the audible gasps.    :)

The good thing about this show is that TAO wrote and owns it, so we don't have to worry about paying for recording rights. ;D

Here’s Shirley Jones. The tempo is way too slow.

True, but it was pretty cute.

The reviews are all over the place for Just in Time.

Here's my parody lyric.  I don't know if Jonathan Groff's sweating and spitting has been parodied in song anywhere yet, but it sounds like Mr. Groff has a sense of humor about it.  (Is the sweating and spitting the "Groff sauce" that gets referred to?)

On the reviews of the new Bobby Darin Broadway musical - praising Jonathan Groff's performance as sensational, and the critics AND the show pointedly warning that Mr. Groff spits and perspires a lot, so be aware if you're in the front rows.

Tune of "Mack the Knife" Bobby Darin rendition

Oh, the shark bites / are mis-named, dear,
So the experts / seem to say.
No, the sharks should / not be blamed, dear,
People just get / in their way.

Just like Groff who / seems to sweat, babe
Water sprays from / all his pores.
Sit too close and / you'll get wet, babe
It's not Groff's fault / no, it's yours.

Like sharks looking / for some food, hon.
All they want is / lots of fish.
Groff does not mean / to be rude, hon.
To delight you / is his wish.

Oh, the critics / have such smarts, dear,
And you count  on / what you read.
So you trust them / for fine arts, dear,
Hope they give you / what you need!

So you're on notice / when you go there,
Choosing how you / spend your cash.
Groff, he puts on / quite a show there.
His performance / makes a splash!

Very funny, Freddie! :))

It's weird that the strippers' song in the new GYPSY recording is titled Ya Gotta GET A GIMMICK.

OI remember it being YOU GOTTA HAVE A GIMMICK in the 1962 movie.  I looked it up and I am right HOWEVER on the OBC with Miss Ethel Merman is it indeed YOU GOTTA GET A GIMMICK....

Strange.

The Tyne Daly recording also lists it as, "You Gotta Have a Gimmick."

From DR George:

Quote
I'll have to send this to my sister's boyfriend.  He takes care of my niece's iPhone. :-\

I'm guessing his reaction will be the same as Keith's as DR Rodzinski's.

Pretty much.

The talk seemed to be well received, but I failed in my objective which was to get more volunteers for the altar guild .

Not a one

How rude! >:(

Sondheim's lyric book lists the title as "You Gotta Get a Gimmick". There's one line in the song with "have" a gimmick but the other seven references are "get" or "got" a gimmick.

I decided at 6 p.m. to mow the lawn.

I got a bit tired.....but I rested a bit after doing the backyard.....and most of the front yard.

Then took a break.  I refilled the gas tank in the mower to finish the side yard and the man across the street said - I'll come to help you finish when I get done here.

I said thanks.  He came over and helped cut about 20 minutes off of my total mowing time.  Very kind.
