Having checked the parking prices and having decided  that the streets of New York will be traffic  free due to the holiday (you all knew I was an optomist) I have decided that we will be driving in both days, rather than be held hostage to the whims of the LIRR.

The price of train tickets turns out to be about the same as the price of parking & gas and I prefer the freedom to leave when I'm ready, to have a napping child in the backseat and  to nit have to worry about missing a train and having to wait an hour for the next one.

The Marriott ad I just got by email says:

"Exclusive rat es for this weekend" (space between rat and es in the actual email)

At least it's better than when it said  "exclusive rats"

(And no, that has nothing to do with the "surprise.")

No one's staying in a Marriott, are they?

DR vixmom - If the surprise was Mr. Panaro, trust me, you would have been the first to know.

However, since there is definitely one DR who knows what the surprise, I shall let that DR spill the beans...

And in the process that DR will be able to post another post... (that was a clue)

...Before Wednesday (that was another clue).

Mr. Piano sir, should we be purchasing metro cards?

No MetroCards necessary unless you happen to get tired, and just want to take the L Train back and forth under 14th Street.  -Oh, but if you plan on meeting us up at Rockefeller Plaza, then you'll need at least one fare to get down to the LES.  Oh, and I guess one to get you back to wherever you decided to park your car.

Are any other Mac users having an issue with bringing this site up in Safari in the past hour?  I tried a couple of times, but my computer would freeze up.  So, I switched to Camino, and all seems to be working fine now.  Hmm...  Just wonderin'.

Back from the second round of errands.  More to come, then will gather up dear reader Hisaka and try to figure out the afternoon and evening's entertainment.

Don't worry, the windows are shut tight.  It takes great strength to open them.

And it's really only the 16th floor.  And anyone who fell out the window would be stopped by the terrace on the 15th floor.

Everyone may be tuckered out by (or of) her as well... I am a firm believer in grown up time away from kids, especially other people's kids... so much as I want to meet you  -
8 hours of  someone else's  12 year old (even one as remarkably polite, well mannered, intelligent and all around gosh darn cute as mine  ;D)  should be more than enough for everyone involved!

I will howver send you a small token of my respect through channels (read whoever is willing to carry it for me)

NYC greetings!  Arrived at the hotel about 1:30, called DR elmore and DH Richard, unpacked a little, and headed out to get my ticket for tomorrow evening's Walking Down Broadway at the Mint Theater.  The women there were very helpful and thrilled that someone actually from Ohio would seek out their production of a play by an Ohio author.

Since I'm posting from the one and only public computer in the hotel lobby and am in great need of a little nap, I'll sign off for now.
