Does anyone else who is NOT in New York feel slightly IRRELEVANT this morning?

:D

Off to Carnegie Deli to meet up with DR MBarnum and Mr. Bloom...  Guess this will most definitely be my one and only meal of the day...

I hope DR Hisaka enjoys her last day in the USA. I'm sure bk will give us the full rundown of the day's activities.

With BONES and HOUSE on hiatus during the baseball playoffs, the television line-up is considerably thinned out for me tonight....
Good news, as far as I'm concerned.  Der B and I have to leave way early tomorrow, and we'll need our "beauty" sleep.  (Such as it is.   ::))

Sigh.

Life goes on, apace, here in Oakland.  We've had some very pretty days lately and the weather is just cool enough to make it seem "fallish".

I'm certain those in Los Angeles feel pretty great.   ;)

Well.. Since we're in New York City, I believe the proper term would be, "chopped liver", as opposed to "IRRELEVANT".

;)

However...

I'm sensing there's a good chance there may be a Bay Area gathering sometime in last January...

It's creepy (not in a  bad way :) ), Jason, but in that picture that's now your avatar, you look just like Louis Hoffman, who was one of my best friends during law school.  Except maybe a little paler, since Louis always tended to have a tan.

Yesterday was extremely busy at work.  It was the first time in aeons that I was surprised when someone told me it was time for lunch.

Even then, I regretted leaving for something as trivial as food.....NOT!

I welcomed the break.  The lunch was good (not special), and the rest of the afternoon (including a cake break at 3 p.m. for a colleague's 50th birthday) just flew by.

I had a few errands to run, and then decided to stop at my local grocery for a few items.  I was home by 7 p.m.   By 8 p.m., I had eaten dinner and was watching "Surface" on NBC.

By 9:40 p.m., and I have to admit I don't know the name of the sitcom (starring Stockard Channing and Henry Winkler and one of the Tilly gals) that I was nodding off through, I was ready for bed.

I set my VCR to record "Medium" and hit the sheets.  I woke up at 2:15 a.m. and performed a major sinus clearance (yuck!), and it was back to bed (by 2:25 a.m.) until the alarms rang.

I'm meeting a friend for a Chinese lunch today (sadly, not a buffet), so I must hurry and get ready for that.

That's okay, DR Matt H.  Real Chinese restaurants don't have buffets!

That Stockard Channing sitcom is called OUT OF PRACTICE. I set the DVR to record it, but, of coruse, I haven't watch anything I recorded last night yet. I have two hours of shows to watch.

I felt irrelevant once.  It's skin was rough and leathery.

Chinese lunch reminds me of Yom Kippurs in Brooklyn, when everyone would leave synagogue when the fast day was over, and - as if in a procession - would make a beeline towards the Jade Pagoda Chinese resturant in the Trump Village Shopping Center.

DR FJL: Your friend Louis must be a devastatingly handsome man. ;)

Being half Irish/half British, I'm afraid my Tan Retention Quotient (or T.R.Q. in technical jargon) is ZERO. My WATER Retention Quotient...well...that's a whole other subject.

Jason - Actually, the ladies did think Louis was very handsome, which was fortunate for him because he's straight.   The (female) director of one of the school shows I was in would carry on about him on the phone in the filthiest manner.

I'm at post #500.  Do I need to make my 501st post meaningful, or just get it over with, I wonder.

What was the third course?

I'm up, I'm up.

I resisted computers for years.  I finally got a typewriter that could word process, but that drove me crazy.  I did write a script on a computer in the late 80s, but it was madness - I hated the font (there were no choices), and it printed out on that awful paper that you had to tear the sides off, and I had two pages of macro commands taped to the shelf where the computer was located.

My first computer was a Mac at Varese, someone's ancient Mac that ended up in my office when they got a new one.  I was thrilled to get on the Internet, sort of.  It wasn't a 56K modem, so it took about twenty minutes to connect, and then wouldn't stay connected.  I was quite certain that that was how all computers worked, and I was ready to toss it into the trash.  Then I checked out a Compaq in 1999, and Varese bought it for me ($700).  That was like a whole new world, even though it, too, didn't do anything very fast.  I took that with me to you-know-where.  They have it now, and I'm glad they do.  I next bought a Toshiba laptop, which worked okay, then a Dell, which worked better until it started having probs.  Then I made the switch to this here Powerbook and that is the best I've had.  I did get enamored of the tabletop thing I saw yesterday.

Thanks,  Der Brucer.  We'll be getting snockered with Manischewitz in New Jersey a little later on, and I'll think of that picture.
