What are Mark and James (and James' mom) doing in a show with Bea Arthur?
Singing soprano, alto, and tenor?

But BK you DO need to have the DVDs of THE FLESH EATERS and Sonny Chiba's TERROR BENEATH THE SEA. Those films are two of the most enjoyable sci-fi films of the 60s IMHO (internet speak for in my humble opinion).

And you will adore the cute, blonde, Barbara Wilkins in THE FLESH EATERS.

Best subjects in school were Social Studies and World Geography...I loved learning about 20th century history and about other countries.

Worst subjects were Math and Science...it is a wonder that I even graduated, I was so bad.

I'm watching the very strange film The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane, which I haven't seen since it came out.

Best subject were always English (especially when it was literature classes) and history.

Worst were maths and sciences...I was smart enough to be in Advanced Algebra  and things like Geometry, but in the latter got low "b's" and "C" and one time pulled a "D" in Advanced Algebra II...since then I have never had to use a sine or a co-sine and couldn't even tell you what they were or if I spelled them right.

In college, Astronomy was the killer for me...any science that required a dollop of math and I was gone.  I passed, but by the skin of my buns.

I was also rather miserable in any foreign language...French in High School; German in College.  I can read and decipher a smattering of both, but can't speak either nor understand them when they are spoken to me.

My last two years of college when I was taking nothing but Literature and Theatre classes, I made a four point.

As with DR CP:  Favorite classes in ALL grades, English (Lit) & History.  Literature always included some drama, and it was in those classes that I first read THE MIRACLE WORKER and THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK.

Did terrible in ALL math classes.  PE was okay when we played sports that I liked....but I didn't like basketball (a B/D reference).  I liked running and volleyball and dodgeball and gymnastics.

Well I guess since I don't have a copy of THE GIRL MOST LIKELY TO.... - I won't get the answer. :(

Valerie Harper's NIGHT TERROR and Susan Hayward's SAY GOODBYE, MAGGIE COLE were both released on video many years ago.  A couple of my favorites!

Afternoon, all...

Larry, Jose, FJL & Jane: I'm afraid I'm going to have to pass on Artie's after all. I just called the bank to find out my balance. The prospects were bleak. I'm sorry to miss it. Please pass my regrets on to DR Jane and wish her a safe trip home on my behalf.

TOD: My Spanish teacher in high school called me a prodigy. I picked up the language faster than any other student she'd ever had. In fact, I started college as a Spanish/French double major until I got my scholarship for Voice. I also excelled in Stage Makeup (go figure) and Geography. At one point I also wanted to be a cartographer. I did very well in my Desktop Publishing class, as well. Anything that required creativity as opposed to regurgitation of information was for me.

Worst subjects: P.E. I hated it. In fact, in middle school, I took a job washing dishes in the cafeteria to get out of gym. Hehe... I hated World Civ, mainly because the professor was SO boring, and I hated, hated, hated my Forms and Composition class my senior year of college. Again - just too boring.

I forgot to mention Dennis Dugan, who plays a REALLY cliched gay theater boy.

Mawnin'. another gawjus day!

Best subjects: language classes of any stripe, lit, foreign langs (French, Italian, Russian, German), drama.

Worst: GYM (I broke my hand playing volleyball...), algebra.

I loved the writing classes any time I could get them.

Favorite classes to teach: beginning piano and beginning guitar... I just love teaching them how to read music, they get such a thrill out of it, as i did.

And anything that comes with fudge.

Eight new gowns designed specifically for twisting at $800 each.  Mari Blanchard and Sam Katzman announced that the Twist was officially over in DON'T KNOCK THE TWIST.  Everybody's grandparents doing the Twist.  Scarier than any horror movie Katzman and Clover Productions EVER produced.

Yes, I'd be curious for whoever it is who has major problems with WEST SIDE STORY to let us know his objections.

I think it's one of the great movie musicals.

To answer you, and TCB from yesterday:

WSS has come under considerable criticism - more political than artistic.

It has reviled for glamorizing gangs been boycotted as "racist", and there was quite a stink when a school on Amherst MA cancelled a production because its depiction of Puerto Ricans was "offensive". Criticism has also been about its lack of authentic Latino casting. One article notes:

Quote
Of the major cast members, only Chita Rivera in the play and Rita Moreno in the movie (both, coincidentally, playing Bernardo's girlfriend Anita) were Latina.

What kind of gun works underwater?

A Russian company, Tznitochmash, makes both a pistol and an assault rifle that work underwater.

DR George, I meant to mention that the package arrived yesterday but due to my having a houseguest, I didn't get to open it. I will see it tonight before regular network TV begins and give thoughts on it later tonight.

You did NOT have to send it Priority! That was above and beyond the call of duty but much appreciated!
