I like the security at the Doubletree because, as you know, people are always STALKING me.  I am STALKED wherever I go.  Once a corn STALKED me.  I hate when that happens.

LACC meeting is done, and am awaiting the next group.

No one got their book today?  So much for Priority Mail (not speaking about the East Coasters - we know that will take a day or three).

TCB I wish you had been there too then.  We could have walked in the evenings together while our inner clocks were still set to west coast time.

Tomovoz isn’t the Milford a bit farther from the center of Times Square?

I’m still catching up on the posts.  So, to return to the days I missed…..

JMK I wonder if you went to the same Pumpkin Patch Bryan and his girlfriend visited.  Where is it?

Matt H, Alan Tudyck was in SPAMALOT.  LOL, his entire look was rather surprising when he took off his shirt.

Bruce I'm glad you were directed to my post.  My niece called the experience Amazing.

I'm about that obervant too DR Cillaliz.
I could be surrounded by celebs and would know any of them if if I'd seen them on stage the night before etc.
I so often do not "see" people I know quite well.

I have often done that.  When we worked at the Bruin Theater in Westwood I sold candy to this really cute guy.  It wasn’t until later I was informed he was one of the stars of the movie currently showing.  In my defense I will say he was MUCH better looking in person.

Jane, I would have enjoyed that very much.

The Milford is only a block off of Times Square on 8th Avenue.

Well, today’s catastrophe is all over with. Dr. C’s midterm was four essays. I hate essay tests. I HATE essay tests. I HATE ESSAY TESTS! But I used a lot of big words and some semicolons and talked about “the human condition” a lot, so I think I got about a C.

Then I had to go attend a lecture about Darwin, for some reason, for my pre-1860 American Literature class. Don’t ask me why. First, this guy introduced the guy who was going to introduce the speaker. Then the guy who was going to introduce the speaker proceeded to do so, starting with, “This man needs no introduction.” For a man who needs no introduction, it took an awfully long time to introduce him. Eight minutes, to be exact. We heard all about how he used to fish salmon commercially, how he once saved a man from drowning, and we heard reviews for the three books he wrote.

Then the speaker started speaking. He has apparently devoted his life to studying the way Darwin’s Theory of Evolution has affected American literature. He passed out a list of several of the authors he says were influenced by Darwin. One of them was F. Scott Fitzgerald. Ever since last semester when I wrote F. Scott Fitzgerald into all my term papers, I get the giggles whenever anyone mentions him. So I got the giggles right there in a classroom full of old people.

I couldn’t see the speaker because the girl sitting in front of me was blocking my view. She had a lot of really curly hair, and every time she moved her head, her curls would bounce around. Which really isn’t all that funny, but if you have the giggles, it’s hilarious. So I looked around for something else to look at. On the wall right behind the speaker there was this painting of some teacher. He was old and kinda ugly and had this really stern expression on his face. As soon as I saw that, I thought, “If I paid somebody to paint my portrait and it came out looking like that, I would sue.” That got me giggling all over again.

Then the lady sitting next to me got up and left the room because her cell phone was ringing. Two seconds later, somebody else sat in her seat. I could see who it was out of the corner of my eye. You’ll never guess who it was.

It was Dr. C. So I had to spend the last twenty minutes or whatever of the lecture sitting next to the dreaded Dr. C. Oh, the horror! Yet, for some reason, it made me want to laugh.

But I got through it. Now the next big catastrophe will be my last midterm on Friday.

Not to bore you withthe details but because of various people being intentionally obtuse and difficult....

DR Vixmom, I always love your stories of intentionally obutse and difficult people. Your tales of wacky real estate closings always make me laugh.

I hope they didn't tell any tales after the closing on my mom's house last year.

Well, Jane, even though you weren't talking to me; I love staying in Times Square.  For me (and this is purely personal), Times Square is the heart of the city.  It makes me feel like I have come home.  Staying in Times Square for a night or a week or even a month recharges my batteries.

The batteries for your what? :)

The Milford is still too close.  I preferred the location of the Wellington where I stayed last year.  I did prefer staying in the same hotel as the rest of the gals.  I wish I had arrived when they did instead of feeling the party started without me. :)

DRLAURA - your new word should be part of the lexicon....

OBUTSE - it is descriptive and illiterative.

In fact I think I will call my new novel THE OBUTSE TRIANGLE.

Continuing on with yesterday's TOD (I'm always behind in my reading... or my thinking, whichever applies.  What can I say?):

Stan Freeberg Presents "The United States of America, Part I:  The Early Years"

I often find myself singing "It's a Round Round World" or "Look at the Colors You Chose" in the car.

And I suspect this album was the inspiration for Mel Brooks' History of the World, Part I.

And speaking of Brooks, I would add two:  High Anxiety and Young Frankenstein.  Those are satire, aren't they?  some of his others are just too painfully silly.  I mean, how many thousands of dollars do you have to spend to film a really baaaaaad pun?

DR vixmom:

So sorry about your horrible day.  The rain was trecherous today.  Joe called and warned me after seeing the TV reports, so I avoided the Parkways on my way home and only encountered minimal flooding.

DR WFO - Stan Freberg's face matched his satire and comedy perfectly.

I've been working my fingers to the bone...well, something like that.

I would have liked to catch up on all the posts from the last couple of days, but there wasn't enough time.

I would have also liked to catch up on last week's LOST, which we missed because we were in NYC on Jose's eating/walking tour, but it didn't get recorded.

Jose is to blame once again.

Another early day tomorrow.

Re: Domino.

The Dal that the construction worker was thinking of having us take care of has been on the run for the last week or so.  He's come by our yard a couple of times, but has had no interest in being caught   (That it's been rainy here hasn't helped things at all.)

If we catch him, we'll gladly be giving him a home for as long as we can.  But we first have to catch him.   :-\
