I guess I'm going to start a systematic checking of my older Universal DVDs to see if they're still playable on my equipment.

Tonight was TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. Tomorrow will be OUT OF AFRICA. I probably won't be watching the entire films. Just get them started and then skips to a favorite scene or two.

Ann has finally caught up.  I've been E&T, as I thing Jed mentioned, because we went across the mountains to see a production of The Last 5 Years.  A dear friend of his was playing Cathy.  We were warned about how awful the guy playing Jamie would be, and we were both pleasantly surprised that he wasn't really that bad.  Miscast, to be sure, but plainly trying his best to tackle some very difficult music.  At any rate, it was an enjoyable trip.  Now I am home, caught up, and full of pasta with some of the homemade pesto we got when we stopped at my dad's house :)

And now I need to hurry off to bed and get some sleep.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the evening.

Good night.

Hello I just got caught up.  Toiday we had church, then Sunday School and then a little celebration for our pastor who was celebrating  the 35th anniversary of his ordination.

Then there was grocery shopping.  A little nip was inthe air so the Vixter and I decided that a nice homemade beef stew was in order.

It came out really well, everything nice and tender and flavorful without anything gettig too mushy, with no burning on the boittom by forgetting to stir, or lower the heat, the gravy was just right, not too thin or thick or salty and we made a huge pot of it so we can have seconds and maybe even thirds over the week! (Which means warming up  instead of cooking and still getting a nice meal!)

Since all of yesterday was "lost " to the "wedding without peer"  i spent the rest of the day doing laundry ands I'm not entirely done yet.

Ah well at least I was not alone in my laundrying!!

Hey Jose. Where y'going?Barcelona? (sorry too many Sondheim references  in these posts!)   :D

Is it DC again?  I lost track.  Will you be out of town until you  (hopefully) go to SF before the opening of Lestat or will you be back in between?

Well, I think this is my schedule...

Tomorrow - Head down to DC
Tuesday-Sunday - Play keyboard 3 for the Joseph at the Warner Theatre
Next Monday or Tuesday - Return to NYC
Sometime after that, head back down to DC to start Damn Yankees - rehearsals start November 8.  Close February 5.
Start Lestat rehearsals in NYC around February 12.

I think that's the general schedule for now.

IN MY LIFE. Well, the bar is so low these days, I give credit for anyone doing a musical that is not based on some movie or TV show or other musical. It has some winning cast members and colorful, engaging sets. One, maybe one and a half decent songs. The rest kinda blah. Mainly, it has no real courage to be anything in particular, and relies on a lot of cheap gags over real plot. Some of the gags are amusing, but there was no coherence, really. Typical evidence of ideas partially removed, concepts half-arsed, incomplete, dangling...

I went expecting a disaster, but secretly hoping to like it. It failed on both counts.

To respond to the TOTD -

I adore coffee, particularly espresso drinks.  I confess to having a fondness for Starbucks, although I rarely indulge due to financial limitations.  Like my cyberfather, I would love nothing more than to start my day with a large drink...I'd go for a vanilla latte, personally.  In my hometown there is a coffee company called D&M coffee, which is bar none the best coffee and espresso I've ever tasted.

These days I have my powdered vanilla coffee to start my day, and ocasionally a Starbucks vanilla latte if I'm feeling rich :)

MattH,  I agree on THE THING. To me, a very scary and suspenseful movie. Carpenter took a lot of guff for making the special effects a little too grotesque. But that's how it is with parasitic aliens.

Ty Power really went through a physical transformation. In those early movies like IN OLD CHICAGO and the Sonja Henie films, he's slight, boyish, then his features got a bit more rugged and squared off.
