All right. I'm off to the races (a MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD reference). Hope everything goes smoothly with this install. I don't want another 12 hour day!

Did you see the post yesterday about the cheap Ma and Pa Kettle/Francis the talking Mule DVD sets for just $4.88?

Was Francis Joins the Wacs in there?

Mystery of the Day:

DR MBARNUM is afraid of spiders AND YET one of his favorite movies is:

EARTH vs THE SPIDER.

Food for thought!

November greetings from rainy SW Ohio.  I'm home today, on sick leave, to visit my doctor at 1:45.  Five days of self-medication did not cure me, so it's time for some professional attention.

Jose - it's such fun to follow your Broadway adventures here on line!

I miss DR elmore - anybody heard from him?

This morning I've got about twenty more packages to address, and then I'll be ready for when I pick up the CDs - that's supposed to be some time today, but given the track record of the pressing plant, I'm guessing tomorrow morning.

I'm afraid of heights.

Actually, it's a fear of falling, I think.  I do get myself in situations where I challenge that fear, but it's real.  Whether I'm on the rim of the Grand Canyon on scampering around in the Alps, it kicks in and there's no denying it.

Strangely, flying doesn't bother me, and I always get the window seat when I can.  I guess planes feel solid to me.  Go figure.

Dear DR Jose:  If you get the chance, please tell Sir Elton that our eight-year-old grandson loves the song "The Bitch Is Back."

 :o   ::)   8)

(We've yet to explain to him that Sir Elton also wrote The Lion King; that should raise His Knightliness even higher in Alex's esteem.)

I have an initial bout of vertigo whenever I'm up in a high place for the first time, but once I'm used to it I'm not bothered at all.

Pretty much so--the lines and colors are the same as the classic silver-age GL costume.  It may be Alex Ross's realistic approach that makes it look different.

It was strange at work last night.  No one was in costume, business was slow.

But the computers were also running slow.

And what customers we had were cranky.

We survived.

Time to get ready for work again today.  Laters (a phrase we can blame on Jose).

Okay, I'm all caught up!  I'm staying at the Hotel Allegro at the corner of Randolph and State, right in the middle of the theatre district:  WICKED is at the Oriental, Billy Crystal was just (I think) at the Crystal Palace (?), the Goodman is doing PURLIE, and Julie Andrews' THE BOYFRIEND opens next week.

I left the apartment at 6:30 am yesterday, flow to Chicago at 9, both EST, arrived at O'Hare around 10:30 (Chicago time).  The band rehearsal was from 3-7, and it went quite well.  The section I'm supervising was fun, and a lot of the other Arlen charts came from the CBS television collection, mostly by Peter Matz and Jimmy Carroll.  There's a great "Blues in the Night" for Dorothy Collins from "Your Hit Parade" by Peter Matz.  The one dud was a chart for "That Old Black Magic" for Julius LaRosa, which was so pathetic we're trying to find another for Ron Raines at the Library of Congress.

Today the rehearsal is from 2-6, and the cast for the concert is coming in today.   I'm using Kinko's for the internet service and the ladies here are quite kind and patient with my computer gaucheries.

DRMichaelShayne, good to see you back!  DRJRand55, best wishes on the new job, DRJose, tell Todd Ellison I send my love as well.  Bye for now!
