It's pouring rain here, too!

Had food from Birds - first time delivery - pretty good, but the onion rings simply do not travel well.

I've always loved Merrily. I got to see a 1983 college production of the original that was very well done. In 2007 a local professional company did one of the revised versions. Then I saw the Broadway revival. I was literally crying at points during the show because ai never dreamed I would see it done so well.

For recordings I have the OBC, bk's York recording, and the Broadway revival. The Broadway revival is far and away my favorite.

I never had a problem with the book. By the time I saw it on stage, the Betrayal movie had come out with the same story-in-reverse structure. Audiences who've seen movies like Pulp Fiction shouldn't have problems with Merrily's timeline.

Which leaves us with the relatability of the main character. The Growing Up songs help. Structuring the show as a memory play as in the revival also helps.

I do miss The Hills of Tomorrow and the music nerdiness of the same tune running through 3 songs worth of evolution, but I've come to terms with the show working much better without it. You couldn't really do it as a memory play with those songs there.

The Duvall news was not welcome. Here he is doing a tango with his wife.
