This is one that I've liked.

Tune of "Applause"

What is it that we're clapping for?
Her flaws, her flaws
Nothing at all
Holds us in thrall
Like Betty's flaws

Her co-stars can share
Their note-perfect sounds
But can that compare
When we hear it:

That happy growl rolls over us
And if it's flat
That makes our night
Squeals of delight
Pulsate from right where we're at

'Cause
The legend's onstage (Can you hear her?)
And now all the rage (The sound of)
Her flaws! Her flaws! Her flaws!

When you google "It's just too groovy to believe!" all the references are to APPLAUSE and "But Alive!" - It's like the sentence never existed outside this show and this song.

If Gerard Alessandrini had been doing Forbidden Broadway when APPLAUSE was first running, I bet he'd have immortalized the show the way GRIM HOTEL helped immortalize GRAND HOTEL.

I’m tired. But I’m trying to get a little of The Cowboy and the Lady watched. Gary Cooper and Merle Oberon star.

Thanks for that link, John G!

I recall the goodwill the show had generated with "The Lambeth Walk" near the end of Act 1 being so great that we came back ready to be cheering whatever opened Act 2.

Am I right that there was a scene of some sort after "The Lambeth Walk" that closed Act One?

I’ve started listening to Anna Kendrick’s memoir Scrappy Little Nobody. I’m quite enjoying it.

Of course that's future Tony winner Sammy Williams being held by Ms. Bacall.

When the auction got to its final section, beat poetry and counterculture, I was done with it. I went to the couch, turned on YouTube and before I could even select a video, out like a light for a whopping five HOURS.
