A bit of Hollywood lore you may not have ever heard:

Before Zizi Jeanmaire was plucked off the ballet stages of Paris to star in "Hans Christian Andersen," the part was originally to have been a swimmer (who would have inspired the story of "The Little Mermaid").  The director had found a wonderful swimmer named Plu Plu AuPair to play the role, but she was replaced when it was discovered she was unable to dogpaddle.

Speaking of SMALLVILLE, I read at TV GUIDE yesterday that discussions are seriously underway for that AQUAMAN spin-off I felt sure was going to happen after the smashing debut of the character earlier this season on SMALLVILLE. He will fit right into the young female demographic the WB cherishes so much.

If they do this spinoff, I sure hope they get Patrick "Man From Atlantis" Duffy involved as a mentor or elder.

It's a darned shame Plu Plu had to leave the film.  As it is, Hans has no love interest outside of Peter.

While this may be a nod toward some truth or other, it makes the movie a bit cloying for me.

On SMALLVILLE, Aquaman was very smitten with Lois Lane. In his own comic, who was his girl friend?

A watch from Wal-Mart with NUMBERS and a black band.

CANOE and sometimes COOL WATER.

I also have a ring that the actor who played PIPPIN wore in the show, but then afterwards decided he didn't want it anymore.  He was going to throw it away, but since I was standing there, I said I want it.  The only ring I have worn in YEARS and YEARS.  Because I liked the show we did.

Tonight we are seeing GODSPELL with some signing, so hopefully I can wipe that AWFUL movie out of my brain.  Oh my.

Didn't watch LOST last night.  I watched "THE 7 FACES OF DR LAO" - and...well....I thought Tony Randall did a very nice job.  Whew!  Maybe I just don't like him when he is playing a character that seems to reflect his OWN personality!

I loved how they ended it:  "I think I'll go home and take the weekend off."

Actually, wasn't it Thompson telling them to have the police take the weekend off?  That's what I understood--to give the "father" time to get away.

Poor little Plu Plu....she would have been great, I bet!

She was great at the breast stroke and crawl, but her backstroke held her back.  And of course, her inability to dogpaddle ruined her chance at a career.

If only.   ;D  But the Ellen DeGeneres issue will feature a story on the "My Lobotomy" patient, whose documentary airs next Wednesday on All Things Considered.  If the People article reopens the Frances misinformation (I'm hoping not), I will enlist all H/K's to help me in a Letters to the Editor campaign.  ;)

Cillaliz our idea of fun is not hanging out at video stores.  NetFlix is great and convenient.  Having a queue is great.  How often have you wanted to see a movie and then forgotten about it.  Now we just leave those movies, even before they are out on a DVD, in our queue and eventually we get them.

TPunk thanks for the cats link.

MBarnum your cat photos from last night seem to have disappeared today.

Michael S I’m sorry you had to postpone Italy.  Good family vibes.

Ron you are having a rough fall-feel better.

Well, at least the film left out the parts where he gets evicted as Charles Dickens' houseguest, or falls out of bed, breaks his neck and dies!

I always thought Hans was the houseguest of E.M. Forster during his stay in London.

Maybe after he wore out his welcome with the Dickens family!

I don't think E.M. would like Hans' ugly mug scaring away the low-rent boys and grenadiers.

I'm up, I'm up.

I have never worn jewelry with the following exceptions:

For a very short time, I liked those big ugly watches that had every kind of doo-dad on them - watch, chronometer (is that right?), stop watch, etc. and they lit up.  I bought one, wore it twice, and didn't like having it on my wrist and that was that.

Once upon a time in a galaxy far away, I was married - I wore my wedding ring for the first year, but then stopped because I didn't like feeling it on my finger.

Back in 1966, I bought a beautiful ring with an opal.  The opal was the single most gorgeous opal I've ever seen, before or since - just alive inside.  I wore that ring on the fourth finger of my right hand until 1980, when I lost it doing the CBS pilot I did with George Kennedy.  I'm sure you can see it on my finger in more than a couple of my TV appearences.

So, my favorite gem is the opal.

I've been wearing the same cologne since the late '70s - Jovan Musk - it is MY scent.

Speaking of that, who can guess what this line is from:  "Don't you think it's common to smell of ourselves?"

Matt H please try to remember those “SPOILER” notices before your posts.  Yesterday you gave away the ending to HOUSE.  It wasn’t a big deal since I would have guessed it soon enough, still….

LOST SPOILERS.

I have to say that I was not upset at all by the identity of the person who died last night on LOST. I had nothing against this person, but I have not retained much interest in this person's story since the major events of last season which involved him/her. If I had had a choice of the major adult cast members, this person would have been my choice.

The funny thing is that I did not really care about the person who was lost until last night's show.  Her backstory was more interesting than before. And her relationship with Sayid finally meant something to me. So i was actually sad that she was killed.

I hope Sayid beats the new woman with a stick.  What kinds of idiot shoots someone without seeing who it is first. Totally stupid. But very sad.

I made the most incredible dish last night that I wanted to share.
I used hamburger meat instead of pork and i used more cranberry sauce than they said to use (i would also recommend using more sauce to dunk the balls into after they are cooked).

This was SO good. I had to wrap up the leftovers to bring to my sis, and I didn't want to! :)

Stuffing Balls

 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Prep: 25 min
Ready In: 45 min
Serves: 8

 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

   1 lb. ground pork

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1 pkg. (120 g) STOVE TOP Stuffing Mix for Chicken

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

   3/4 cup cranberry sauce

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

   1 egg, lightly beaten

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

   2 Tbsp. butter, melted

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PREHEAT oven to 325°F. Cook pork in large skillet until no longer pink; drain. Place in large bowl. Add dry stuffing mix; mix well. Add 1 cup water, cranberry sauce and egg; mix until well blended.

SHAPE mixture into 16 balls. Place in single layer on foil-covered baking sheet; brush evenly with butter.

BAKE 20 min. or until golden brown and cooked through (160°F).

Make-Ahead
Prepare (without baking) and freeze these savoury stuffing balls up to a month before you need them. Thaw in refrigerator when needed, and bake as directed.

I cannot wear perfume.  But I have since the summer been wearing Secret's new Vanilla spray. I love that stuff!

I also hate when women wear too much perfume!
