Wow!  Did any of you know that Leonard Maltin wrote a biography on Hans Conried?  238 pages and each page is double-columned!  Now that's a tribute!  I feel compelled to buy this book.

Wow!  I heard a great story about Mr Conried when he was doing summer stock at the old Avondale here in Indiana....and I think DR CP has told a similar story.  When he found out that he was being provided a meal between the two shows on Saturday but the rest of the cast was NOT - he bought pizza for everybody!

DR MattH, I wish I could say the same about next weeks releases...but looking at the list of DVDs coming out I am planning to get the two DVDs of episodes of 26 MEN and episodes of YOU ASKED FOR IT, as well as the double feature of KING KONG VS GODZILLA/KING KONG ESCAPES and the movies HOLLYWOOD AND VINE and THOR AND THE AMAZON WOMEN.

Do you not like the ROBIN HOOD TV series, DR MBarnum? When I saw another volume of those listed, I just assumed you'd be interested in those. I always liked Richard Greene.

I think I'm going to jump off the internet awhile and watch some TV.

I'm going to lunch with best friend John today, and then I should be home for the next several days without leaving.

Jason, even in bad weather I think the Zoo tomorrow will be lots of fun.

Are you an official member yet? If so, I think you get a pass (or more than one) for the arial tram that runs from one end of the zoo to the other. You can always get into a car and escape the rain AND get a birds eye view of your new sanctuary.

I'm not a member yet - I'm going to sign up when I get there tomorrow. I love the SkyRail or SkyTram or whatever they call it. It might be a bit cold to be way up there in an open-air lift, though. ;)

Hope you and Ant have a great holiday. Send him my love...

I will. Enjoy New York in all it's quiet glory tomorrow. One of the nice things about Manhattan on a holiday is it's usually quiet and serene.

We're looking forward to December 8th and Auntie Mame on the Big Screen!

Some of us schlubs are working all day, dang it!

Nevertheless, there is a nice break mid-day for a belated birthday lunch for my boss.

I'm ready for the Italian cuisine (although truthfully, I've yet to find a restaurant here, no matter how pricey and run by Italians, that tastes like the "real deal.")

The freeways are nearly desolate today.

I'ts almost like folks decided to take off a day earlier.

I suppose that means nobody wants to travel "on" Thanksgiving Day when they can arrive "by" Thanksgiving Day.

D'oh!  Yep, that's the book.  But now I'm more eager to read it because I don't think Maltin is a particularly good writer.

That's two of those nights within a week.

I do like Richard Greene, but that ROBIN HOOD series never held my interest. And also, since it was a British series, my American B actors and actresses never pop up as guest stars, and that is one of the things that I love about shows from the 50s!

I'm up, I'm up - well five-and-a-half hours is better than no hours of beauty rest.

I always loved WB records - loved the GOLD stereo label on the LP itself (gray for mono, I think).  And Mercury had great-sounding classical LPs (now highly sought after and very pricey).  I always liked Roulette, too.

The Ipcress File region 1 DVD is quite rare now and fetches lots of dough.  There is a new 2-DVD set coming from region 2 in January.

I liked the WB label for "The Music Man"...a gray label with the WB logo in gold and black (IIRC).

I liked the Fox label for the "Cleopatra" soundtrack, along with the later black lable with gold logo on their mid-1960s-later issues.

But my favorite...absolutely...was:

Oh...DR RLP's post reminds me that the MGM label for 45's - black with the  lion logo was pretty nifty - Connie Francis and Sandy Posey.

The Liberty 45 label was neat, too....and the old Fraternity label on 45's, blue ... with a stylized "F".

Maybe I should look at my 45's and see if I can find an interesting RARE label.

Well on this penultimate day before Thanksgiving the only record label I remember clearly from my childhood is the "Apple " record label

I remember thinking it was a great joke that the "A" side looked like this

The CLEOPATRA LP was pretty special all around.  The liner notes were terrific.

RAM was a fine album!  Liked the pictures, too.

Here is one of the first 45's I got - given to me by my Aunt.  Love the song AND the movie!  ;D
