Hello, all (and sundry): My mom is catching up on her soaps (VHS recordings) which she missed this afternoon as we spent the day driving to, through, around and from Greenville SC. We also ate. And we shopped. And shopped. And shopped.
I lived there from 1957 until I entered the Navy in 1970. My folks lived there until they both retired and moved to Virginia in 1989. (They relocated to SC in 1993).
The city is much changed from my "halcyon" days. I still love it, but I don't think I could live there again.
That said, it was our (my mother, maternal aunt and me...and the second time for my cousin) fifth annual December pilgrimage and we have a good time.
I spent a few bucks in Macy's which was having an incredible sale...30% off the already 20% reduced prices on certain men's clothing items. I have a TON of socks now, and I LOVE socks!
During the trip, my cousin, with whom we always dine on Christmas eve, was trying to find out what everyone wanted for dinner. We are having bbq chicken the night before, and we're having pork loin on Christmas day. So...in the spirit of BK's holiday "Christmas Eve dinner", I suggested spaghetti.
And guess who gets to cook the sauce? I don't mind. In fact, I'm anticipating it. My first time cooking for the family as a large group. They won't know what hit 'em.
