CROSSING JORDAN picked up where it left off last season with Henry Winkler now head of the Boston morgue. Since Henry has a new sitcom on CBS this season, I was interested to see how they were going to write him out of the series. No surprises, but a better than average mystery show tonight.

I have selected FORREST GUMP as my DVD for tomorrow. I wanted something that I knew would be a good anamorphic transfer. Other than BEN-HUR, my eyes have gotten kind of weary of these semi-blurry and less than crisp DVDs this weekend.

Yes, during commercials, I flipped over to THE RED SHOES on TCM. It looks SO much better on the DVD.

I see that TCM is running ANNA KARENINA on Tuesday. I want to record it to compare to the DVD (that I was rather disappointed with in the Garbo set). Problem is that there are so many shows that come on Tuesday, I will only record the first hour of the broadcast for comparison sake.

Hi folks!
Today I went to Hooters to watch the Indianapolis Colts play football. (I bet that sentence has not appeared on this site before.) Yes, there is a Hooter's in Manhattan. How it stays open I do not know, but they have a lot of TVs so you an watch the games in relative comfort.

Then I met up with the Punk (who says to say "Hello") and we went to see new David Cronenberg film A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE. I had a feeling it could be good, and I am a big fan of Maria Bello. Solid acting, a great character turn by William Hurt,  and an interesting basic story line were the positives.

But there were too many flaws for me to really recommend the film as a whole. It had a really weird mixture of realism and cardboard stock action stuff. An urge to explore the depth of its ideas did battle with an equal and opposite urge to oversimplify.

However, I can come away knowing I've seen more of Maria Bello than ever before.

How much more of Maria Bello can we see after that movie with William H. Macy???  And why isn't TPunk here posting?  I was invited to a screening of the Cronenberg, but I wanted to read a few thoughts before commiting to see it.
