Many thanks for all the B'day wishes! I also received a lovely E-card from our very own Hisaka. Though I'm getting to the point where I somewhat ignore Birthdays, this one looks to be a pleasant one. Yesterday they began bringing in my library shelves and fitting them to the room. By the end of the week, I should have a completed library and will be able to unpack all the books from their boxes and get them up on the shelves. That will be the best birthday present I could get. I will, of course, post pictures once the library is completed.
Woody, you've pretty much got the history and description of hot brown down. Originated at the Brown Hotel. Turkey, Ham, Bacon, and tomato open-faced on toast or bread, slathered in a cheese sauce (a white cheese sauce, if I remember correctly). I've not had it in years, but I remember liking it. I used to get it at Columbia Steak House up on Limestone in Lexington. I actually almost had it for lunch the other day at the Fava Restaurant on Main Street in downtown Georgetown, but I find it a tad heavy for mid-day. I'm also not just not sure how that cheese sauce would go down these days.
