BEEF!!!

I love it.

Roast Beef, Prime Rib, London Broil, New York Cut grilled with mushrooms and onions, meatloaf, sirloin burgers, beef stew, shepherds pie, beef stroganoff, goulash, Sauerbraten, rib roast, meatballs, sirloin steak, rump roast, silver tip, tri-tip, filet mignon...........oh I love it all!!!

The Vixter says she loves animals and would gladly become a vegetarian if only she didn't have to stop eating beef!!

Sorry Jane!

I love beef, too. Beef stroganoff is my favorite beef dish that involves more than simply tossing a steak on the grill, but nothing beats that, in fact, for a taste treat!

Let's see if this picture will post. It was meant for a page dance last week when I could not get the picture to load here.

Nope, still won't load from my computer. I'm using the "attach" button from the reply screen rather than posting them directly as was done on the previous page.

There have been plenty of photographs posted in the last few days, so I don't think it's the usual overload that we have once every few months, where Mr. Bakalor has to do a purge.

Now, might I just ask WEHT Rodzinski, TPunk, Ann, Jed, and a few others who have been unseemly and VERY errant and truant.

Happily TPunk did post a few times last night, but she made no excuses for her E&T behavior...and said nothing about Rodzinski.

I find this very unsettling....

I don't seem to have any problem posting pictures.  Nor do I have a problem with The Saturday Evening Post.

NYC...a million different places to hide bodies.  I could rattle off a dozen right off the top of my head.

And I don't even live there.

I tried posting a picture...it was under 200 pixels wide and long....and it wouldn't post.

I fear some of us are blighted for some reason.

All this talk of beef has me a hunkerin' for a meatloaf sandwich with lots of yellow mustard and a pickle on the side.

No, no you silly man.  Meatloaf sandwiches must be slathered with brown gravy and served with sweet potato fries!!

Maybe it is the uploading of photos that isn't working...I didn't upload one, I just copied and pasted the URL from an Ebay auction of lovely Allison's photo (up for bid for only $7.50 I might add!).

But didn't you post your picture directly without using the "browse" feature on teh reply page? I think that's what isn't working.

That's what I meant to say, but didn't use the proper terminology.

TOD: I like beef too. Except that mammals send my cholesterol way high. But when I go vegetarian, I become anemic. Currently I am not eating beef. Much.

I love meatloaf and meatballs in sauce. My mom made the best roast beef.

For those interested, here's the lineup for tonight's AMERICAN IDOL night of Queen songs:

Ace Young, We Will Rock You:

•Bucky Covington, Fat Bottomed Girls:

•Chris Daughtry, Innuendo:

•Elliott Yamin, Somebody to Love:

•Katharine McPhee, Who Wants to Live Forever:

•Kellie Pickler, Bohemian Rhapsody:

•Paris Bennett, The Show Must Go On:

•Taylor Hicks, Crazy Little Thing Called Love:

The one that interests me the most is hearing Kellie try Bohemian Rhapsody. I remember when a bunch of the singers on Rock Star INXS tried that. And it was hard!

MEAT!!! I stay mostly vegetarian, for issues of my WEIGHT, for those of you who don't know me... but sometimes I jes get such a craving for flesh!!! MEAT!!! Here's a taste:

By the time New York City Opera's annual Los Angeles tour rolled around in mid-November, we had decided to drive out to the Coast together in his car. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Talk about a week in hell. The man insisted on stopping every two or three hours, usually at a fast-food joint, to get a little something for his tapeworm.
"No, thanks. Not hungry!” she said, hyperventilating.
I did a lot of waiting in the car, humming to myself to drown out the incessant howling, the screams of rage and panic coming from the cellar.
By the third day, I was a gibbering wreck. Through the autumn twilight somewhere in Nebraska, pink and turquoise neon flickered over a truck stop:
"Prime Beef!” it proclaimed. "Sultan's Cut!"
"Quick! Pull off the road!” A bloodthirsty bellow rose from the basement. "Now!"
   "Mon Dieu, qu'est-ce que tu-as?"
The Maestro saw the stricken expression and foaming saliva, concluded I was having a heart attack, and swerved into the parking lot, still doing sixty-five. A screech of tires on pavement, a hailstorm of gravel, a lurching skid passed slow motion as he wrestled the car to a stop.
Fangs glistening in the surreal glow, I whispered, "Let's eat."
Unprepared by his cultured life for the carnage that followed, Jean-Michel sat awestruck as the ancestral appetite — grunts and all — devoured twenty-eight ounces of dripping flesh, salad, baked potato, lima beans, hot biscuits, peach pie, and the remains of his carrot cake. Ah, these American girls! Formidable!

Yeah - gimme a steak!!

But sometimes, it's stew beef, braised in a tiny smear of olive oil and fresh ground pepper. Cover with water, add a couple of whole scallions, a couple of carrots cut into chunks, two or three stalks of cut-up celery, a few bay leaves, whole rosemary, and simmer for about an hour. Then toss in broccoli and whatever other vegetables I have around. If no 12-steppers are around, I spill half a bottle of pretty good red wine into it, simmer again. Towards dinnertime, fresh mushrooms and zucchini and maybe snow peas, some tomatoes for a little zip. I use no salt, so "guests" or whatever they're called who might be eating this with me get a salt shaker and some swell bread. And butter.

Very lean ground beef, sauteed in a little olive oil with a little onion, celery, black pepper, lots of oregano. Cut up some really ripe plum tomatoes - heck, ANY tomatoes, even those little pearl jobs in a big plastic box at Costco! - but if you can't get REALLY ripe ones, open a big can of crushed and pour it in. Slice up WAY too many mushrooms and toss 'em in. A dash of cayenne. A splash of red wine. Simmer, simmer, simmer. Cook up some whole baby green beans or zucchini for me, and a wad of spaghetti for yourself. Ladle the sauce generously over. Mmmmm.
