I had some busy-busy work to do first thing this morning -- very frustrating scanning and saving-to-PDF of a few crucial files...and trying to find ways of saving them in the most "economical" way.  To wit, using Adobe Acrobat 5.0, I scan and save in one size, which for these documents is too large to transmit via e-mail.

Using Presto! Page Manager, the save is more economical, but the files are still large.

So...whatchagonnado?

Anyone know anything about crompressing .pdf files??

Re:  Last night's "Survivor"...

I was a bit put out that the show allowed Bruce to suffer as long as he did.

I'm guessing the contestants are well-briefed on how to get immediate aid if they believe they need it.

It's clear Bruce waited far too long -- did I understand it was 12 days since he'd had a bowel movement?

If I go more than a day I'm beside myself (and swigging Philips MoM).

Danise, I have been thinking a lot about what you posted last night. You really have not recovered enough to be the sole caregiver for your mom, right now. Does she have any insurance? Even if not, Medicaid will provide an in-home part-time caregiver, to help you with her care - they do some light housekeeping, cooking, laundry - and would help you with bathing her. Please consider this. It's a bit of hoop-jumping - maybe a friend who has a bit more energy than you have can help you with the paper work, initial phone calls, etc. It's worth a shot, kiddo...

Ummm, I mean Medicare. And there are Seniors' Services agencies in the front of the phone book - very kindly folks who are salaried by the County, State, etc - who will tell you what is available FOR FREE, and even help you apply for all types of aid.

I taped last night's "Smallville" and "Supernatural", although I cheated a bit and watched some of the latter.

I caught portions of the "Will and Grace" episode...the one in which Debra Messing looked outrageously bloated,  wore no makeup, and seemingly refused to let anyone touch her hair.  On top of that, the dress she wore has to be one of the most gosh-awful ugly dresses of all time.

I don't think ANYone should be photographed looking that bad, regardless of the circumstances.

I think "Grace" is the least appealing lead character of any sitcom EVER.  If that was Messing's goal, she's wildly succeeded.

In my VCR:  a tape of stuff from the last week or so.  For tonight's TV episodes, I don't know what I'll need to watch vs. tape, yet.  I'll check before I leave work.

In my DVD player:  last night, I bought a previously viewed copy of "Capote" for only $9.98 (the ususal price from where I got it).  Also, one that I got from the library called "The White Diamond."  It's by Werner Herzog and is about an "enigmatic airship engineer Dr. Graham Dorrington as he embarks on a trip in the heart of Guyana to test his new helium-filled invention above the rainforest."  It sounds quite interesting. :)

In my CD player:  The Robber Bridgegroom with Barry Bostwick, that I just got yesterday from eBay.  Finally!  I've love the song "Sleepy Man" since the first time I heard it, but it's the only song from the show that I've ever heard.  I don't know why I waited this long to get the CD, but now I've got it! ;D

It's a cool, overcast day in Oakland CA.

Rain showers -- sporadic -- will assault the Bay Area today and tomorrow.

The air retains its pollens and dust particles and I go from on sneezing fit to the next, depending on what I've breathed and how long I was breathing it!

I have a mildish sinus headache that started last night...and on which Tylenol has little effect.

My eyes are a tad watery.

But by golly....my sinuses are clear and I CAN BREATHE!

:D

I'm up, I'm up.  Good night's sleep for the first time in ages, but still very congested, but maybe that will clear up as the day goes by and as the world turns during the days of our lives.

DR Pogue:  I don't figure poor Kevin Sorbo ever had any clout when it came to the script you reference.

Or any script, for that matter.  I think he was thankful he had a role to play.

If you aren't feeling Bold and Beautiful by 1 p.m., you might consider a visit to your favorite doctor, who might be working at General Hospital this afternoon.

On the other hand, indulging in your "Passions" might just take your mind off it....(with a wink toward Elmore3003!).

Am I remembering incorrectly, or are the lyrics to the novelty song "(She Wore An) Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" just those title words, plus "that she wore for the first time today"?

DR MattH, I got to watch Veronica Mars early this week (since my sis has left for 4 days).

I've included the tvwithoutpity recap, which i started reading after watching the shows.  It helps me to make sense of everything i've seen.

I love Veronica Mars (the title character is definitely my favorite character), but it requires an intelligent viewer.  So much happening and only 3 shows left. I'm interested to see who the guilty party is this year.
