Good; the more it plays TV, the more money I get.

You'll have to set up a special cable channel "All Charles Edward Pogue  24 hours a day" , Dragon heart, Hercules, the Fly, Pyscho etc etc  on an endless loop!!  :D

A belated happy birthday to Mr. Nick Redman who I had the pleasure of meeting when I was in LA last year and who I really wish I could have gotten to know better as he seemed like quite a fun character!

Good morning! The sun just broke through... it had started out as a rather gloomy, heavy day. But, lo! sunshine!!!

Happy Birthday to DR Sandra!

TOD - deep thoughts, no conclusions, yet... Maggie Smith is on the list. I think I wanna be her when I grow up.

Good voice/singing vibes to the Vixter! Don't worry about your voice, kiddo. Just think of keeping your breath even - then your singing will sound smooth and you will have control of your phrases. Singing isn't really about being "In-Voice" or not "In-Voice" - it is being Present with the music, and being committed to the lyrics. Exhale with purpose and intention, and believe what you are saying - you can't miss!

Voice vibes for The Vixter!  Mine is shot, having just talked for 3+ hours to a great group of grantseekers.

TOD - If he's still in town doing Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, I'd like an October luncheon date with Jonathan Pryce, assuming we can find someplace in the theater district that hasn't gone out of business.

I'd dine with Kevin Sorbo.

And KICK HIS ASS!!!

Oh, wait. His primary roles were muscle-bound ones.

I think I'd have lunch with George Segal and/or Barbara Harris.

DR George, I love Ms Lupone, and I think it would be fun to visit with her, but the other two ladies would be tortuous.  One of them is certifiably insane.

I think that that would be half the fun! ;)

      ****HAPPY FLOOPY BIRTHDAY, DR SANDRA!****

And happy belated birthday to Mr. Nick Redman.

Last night I saw (on DVD) a film that won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance in 1986 - SMOOTH TALK - based on a short story ("Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been") by Joyce Carol Oates, adapted by Tom Cole and the director, Joyce Chopra. I then read a really interesting essay by Ms. Oates on her thoughts about the adaptation of her story. The movie starred an 18-year-old Laura Dern. My God! She was a breathtakingly beautiful teenager! I found the film really disturbing and quite riveting.

TOD - A general thought - everyone is saying that they'd like to listen to X (fill in the names) - But don't you think they'd like to hear you talk, too? One thing that I've found with the majority of great artists that I've had the good fortune to meet (not all - some are just ego surrounded by bone and flesh - but not too many) - is that one of the things that makes them great is the curiosity they have about life in general and other people in particular. I think they would be eager to hear about your lives, too. I'm sure they'd enjoy a conversation much more than a recitation of their  career achievements. End of mild rant.

Assuming none of my co-workers flip out between now and then, I'm going to be able to leave work at 3pm today, as opposed to 5:30.  I really need some time off after the grueling week I've had.

I'd love to have dinner (individually or together) with the Big Three (to me ;)):  Betty Buckley, Patti LuPone and Bernadette Peters.  I don't know what we'd talk about.  I'd probably just stare at them. :)

Just keep JRand OUT of the kitchen!

Maria - you make quite a good point... but, I saw the Elaine Stritch solo show/backstage-backstory stuff on TeeVee about a week ago... the difference between her solo show and mine points up the reasons I'd rather listen to HER than yak about myself...

The other problem with it is that my sister lives in Berkeley.  :o

And....she's never seen a naked man before?  ;D

Hmmm....Berkeley's history is RIFE with nudists walking boldy down the streets.  There was even a student who went everywhere in the buff....and nothing could be done to stop him.  If ever there is any place where nudity is non-sexual, it's Berkeley (IMO, of course).

Well, I must be off.  I have a busy day ahead of me.  First, I have to go to my sister's house (just next door) and help her move furniture.  Today, my niece (who turned 22 this past Monday) is having her official both-sides-of-the-family (who all still get along, even 18 years after the divorce) birthday party.  My sister wants to make her house more conducive to sitting and chatting and eating.

After the furniture moving, I need to shower and then go to work for a few hours.  Then, I have to be back at my sister's house in time for the festivities at four.  But I can't stay very long.  I'm ushering for a touring production of The Mikado by the Carl Rosa Opera Company (Britain's Oldest opera company).  I've never seen a "real" production of it, only a high school version and a kid's summer theater production of "The Mikado Goes West," sort of like a Das Barbecü version.  I'm real excited about this!

Have a good day, all!! ;D

DRGeorge, I'm so jealous!  The score to MIKADO is so fantastic.  I hope you have a great time.

Vibes for the VIXTER.

DR VIXMOM - I had lunch with Ms Meryl Streep once.  Soon after she won her first Oscar - she and her husband and her in-laws were eating lunch at Gray's Cafeteria in Mooresville (I think her in laws live in Indy) and she wheeled her daughter by in one of those high chairs on wheels....her husband was carrying her tray and his own.

There wasn't much buzz about her there - her not being Reba McIntire or Loretta Lynn or Lynn Anderson....but I did nod to her and she smiled back....she also almost tipped over the high chair but by the time I was out of my chair to help her, she had righted it and was on her way.....uneven brick floor, you know.
