Well, dear readers, as I write these here notes our site is down, down, down when we need it to be up, up, up. I’ve alerted the media and they’re checking to see what the problem is. Whatever it is, they WILL be held responsible. You just know that 100 people just went to order the book and now they can’t. Damn them, damn them all to HELL. Whilst they check, I can tell you we had a nice opening night for the one-acts. Our little playlet really couldn’t have gone better – our three actors really did great. My notes from the night before were implemented perfectly. I’m never long-winded in my notes – and they’re always given with positivity. They’re very succinct and to the point and they’re always about what’s going to work best for the play. The evening is a little long for my taste – with intermission it’s two hours and fifteen minutes, which is fifteen minutes too long. Anyway, it was fun. The upstairs theater only seats about thirty-two people but chairs can be added to up it to forty. We had about twenty-eight and they were a very good audience – mostly friends of various and sundried cast members. The afterparty happened after, when there was a party. I was there about thirty minutes. One fellow, who can’t be with us today for auditions, sang for me and I put him right in the show as one of our utility younger people. Site came back up pretty quickly. Have no idea how long it was down. It was certainly up when I got home. I know they’ll be moving us to new and better servers soon. Where was I? Oh yes, the afterparty. Lots of snacks – I had some green grapes and a couple of macaroons. A Couple of Macaroons – that’s the title of my next novel. I like two macaroons, how about you? I like when Frank S. croons, how about you? I love that song.
Yesterday was okay, just not enough sleep, maybe five hours but maybe less. Once up, I answered e-mails and was happy to see book orders come in. Sometimes they come in very quickly and at once, but it was very slow and sporadic yesterday, but as long as they keep adding up, I’m happy. Then began the saga of the chopped Eyetalian salad from California Pizza Kitchen, which I wanted again. I placed the order before going to bed, for delivery at noon. When it hadn’t even been picked up by noon I began to investigate. Turns out, order cancelled, no explanation. Heaven forbid, they should notify you, but nooooo, you have to go searching and they do not make that easy. I began a chat with them and the refunded the meal and gave me a ten-dollar credit. So, I tried to place the order again and it would not accept the salad. I could have ordered anything else, but apparently they were out of the salad. I found that very odd. So I had mac-and-cheese from Marmalade Café, and this time around it wasn’t very good and made me kind of nauseous for the rest o’ the day. I got the fixed designed book and the few major things are now all fixed and looking good. Now I have to proof it one last time, which I’ll do today and tomorrow, then if there’s anything to adjust we’ll do that and then lock it. They’ll also do the eBook, and I may put that up early, like in October or something. Doug will do the back of jacket and flaps and that will then be ready.
I shaved and showered, fell asleep for about twenty minutes, then it was time to mosey on over to the theater. Evening shows play at 7:00. The rest you know.
Today, I’ll be up by eleven, I’ll do whatever needs doing, then we have two hours of auditions, this time at the theater. After that, Doug and I will convene at a nearby food jernt and we’ll make sure we have everyone we need – if today goes as it should, the only possible open role will be the leading lady, Ida, originally played by Mildred Natwick on Broadway. If no one works out today, then we have several avenues to explore but we have to settle on someone this weekend.
Tomorrow, she of the Evil Eye comes and I’ll have to get out of here pronto and go have food somewhere. Sunday can be a ME day and then next week, hard to believe, we begin music rehearsals for 70, Girls, 70.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eleven, do whatever needs doing, proof, have auditions, convene and figure out where we are, cast-wise, then I can come home and watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/Blu and Ray/streaming devices? I’ll start – CD, 70, Girls, 70. Streaming, a lot of stuff that I’ve added to my watch list. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have had a nice opening night.
