LIKE SANDS THROUGH AN HOURGLASS, THESE ARE THE DAYS OF MY LIFE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, there are two more dog days and I hope I can survive until they’re done. My allergies are running amok and frankly amok is running my allergies. I take my twenty-four-hour pill as close to midnight as possible. By then, the previous pill has all be worn off, and so I’m sneezing, and my ears and throat get itchy, and my head feels like it’s going to explode. Add to that, the build-up of phlegm that will not go away. Then I don’t sleep well and that exacerbates everything. So, at five in the morning, I took a twelve-hour Mucinex-D pill and I have to say that when that kicked in it really broke up the phlegm pretty good. Then there’s the coughing, which is relentless and makes my throat sore. Yes, like sands through an hourglass, these are the days of my life. Some of yesterday wasn’t bad and I even climbed into bed at eight and had an hour nap and slept easily without a clogged-up nose. So, I’ve taken my Claritin-D and hopefully it will kick in shortly, and I’ve taken a Mucinex-D and hopefully that will do the same. I almost got some NyQuil, but I don’t want to go that route.  Earlier in the evening, I watched the three available episodes of season two of Reacher. It’s got its fun elements but boy is there way too much palaver. The rest of the season starts dropping on 12/22, one episode per week. And here’s what we call dodging a bullet – today, we all got a bunch of group e-mails and about six people in our cast got Covid. Can you believe it?

Otherwise, it was the same old same old. Up around ten, morning walk with pee only, first meal, I had some matzo ball soup from Art’s and that was soothing, and much later, I had a Mendocino Farms turkey, bacon, and avocado sandwich with lettuce and tomatoes and pickled onions. It was pretty okay. Then there was the second meal, the second walk, which was a two-business affair, then I watched Reacher, I nodded off in bed for an hour, and here we are. No modern major miracles, I’m afraid and that is NOT a good thing.

Oh, here is a photograph of the Darling Daughter, her Darling Stepdaughter, her Darling Husband in Indian garb at the Indian wedding. I think she’s ready for Bollywood, don’t you?

Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, we’ll have walk one, meal one, I’ll make something here, perhaps Wacky Noodles, meal two, walk two, and then I can watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow is on repeat, but then in the evening the Darling Daughter’s friend Skye will come gather up the dog and the house and couch will once again be mine all mine. I won’t be able to sit on the couch until she of the Evil Eye is done cleaning on Thursday morning. Then I can immediately get back to the book decision, back to the project with David Wechter, and getting ready for the Do unless I decide to cancel it. We’ll see. And I’m afraid that’s all she wrote and believe me, I know how boring it all is, but we’ll be back to normal or at least next to normal on Thursday.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, have walk one and meal one, I’ll make something here for myself, meal two, walk two, and then watch, listen and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: In the Golden Age of soap operas, did you ever watch any and if so which were your favorites and why. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland where like sands through an hourglass, these are the days of my life.
