Well, dear readers, I must once again write these here notes in a hurry, for she of the Evil Eye will be here all too soon and I need as good a night’s sleep as I can get. Right now, I am listening to Don Costa do some of the music from The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and other movie themes. It’s beautiful. I have the whole album that I got from YouTube, but the nitwit who uploaded it reversed the channels, so I cannot listen to it like that. Happily, I have the Umbrellas tracks separately, so those sound great. I love Don Costa, one of my favorites from when I was a teen, right up there with Percy Faith. He also wrote some TV and film scores, including one I’d love to put out – Madigan – a terrific score. I did manage to watch the fourth in that series of giallo-inspired movies from 2012, this one called Twins. It was directed not by the son of Mario Bava or the son of Antonio Margheriti, no this was directed by the grandson of Mario Bava. It actually has some of the giallo style, so that was fun. The plot is pretty easy to figure out about a third of the way through, but the reveal is so convoluted that it just dissolves into a puddle of confusion. Speaking of a puddle of confusion, welcome to the notes. I did get eight hours of sleep, so that was nice – didn’t get to bed until four and awoke at noon. I answered lots of e-mails, chose a few more songs, made some writing notes, then moseyed on over to Paty’s and had an early dinner with Robert Yacko. We chatted, we ate, we laughed, we dished. I had my Trousdale sandwich, grilled of course, and he had a quesadilla with chicken. I had a scoop of potato salad and a tiny dinner salad. It was good. After, I came right home and sat down to do some very hard pondering. What was I pondering? Whether to talk about something I haven’t talked about. But maybe it’s time. I’ve always been very honest in these here notes, sometimes too honest, and I have learned to be somewhat circumspect, but I will ponder whilst wondering and perhaps in the next few days I’ll talk about it. Or not. We’ll see how I feel. Anyway, I did a few things on the computer, watched the movie, and had a toasted bagel with a little cream cheese as my snack. And here we are.
Today, I’ll be up by eight and out the door by eight-thirty, I’ll breakfast somewhere, then I’ll do some errands and whatnot, I’ll stop at the mail place, then come home, choose more songs, do some writing, have a snack later in the day, perhaps a small salad, then I can watch, listen, and relax.
The rest of the weeks is finishing song choosing, getting sheet music to our young folks, getting tickets on sale, some meetings and meals, attending an opening night, and then doing whatever needs doing.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eight and out the door by eight-thirty, breakfast, do errands and whatnot, stop by the mail place, come home, choose more songs, write, have a snack, then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What movies enchanted you so much that you stayed twice to see it – or came back right away so you could see it again? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I shall continue to ponder whilst wondering..
