THE HOLIDAY IS BEHIND US, THE WEEK IS AHEAD OF US

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, the holiday weekend is behind us, and the week ahead is in front of us, and the end of the month is in front of that, and I’m in the middle writing these here notes. I spent the holiday at home because where was I going to go? I got nine hours of lovely sleep with weird dreams, I got up, I answered all sorts of e-mails, I ordered some mac and cheese from Marmalade for food, it arrived quickly and was the best it’s ever been, and I just wish I was enjoying food more these days. That was the food for the day and evening. No other food was consumed at any time. Most of the day was spent futzing and finessing what I’d already written, and then writing another ten pages – the first full day of writing I’ve done, and I enjoyed it very much. All the stuff that sets up the actual story is now finished. I had a long telephonic conversation with an old friend about an important subject and it was a good conversation and had something to do with what I may or may not talk about. I watched a few YouTube things and then sat on my couch like so much fish and watched part one of a documentary about Paul Reubens and Pee-wee Herman entitled Pee-wee as Himself. I gather it was shot in 2022 and 2023, with one final thing shot the day before he passed away. They actually have the chutzpah to call it a “series.” No, HBO, two episodes is not a series, it’s a two-part documentary. Each part run and hour-and-forty-minutes. It’s a lot of Mr. Reubens talking, but lots of fun clips of his early years with the Groundlings and there’s some nice interviews with people he worked with, including my friend Lynne Stewart, who was best friends with Cindy Williams from our LACC days. She passed away just three months ago. I’ll watch part two after posting these here notes. After that, I wrote some more and did a few other things on the computer and here we are.

Today, I’ll be up by ten-thirty at the latest, I’ll shave and shower, and then I have a noon-thirty lunch meeting at a nearby eatery that I’ve never been to but that I’ve heard is very good. Then I’ll come home and write. At seven, Marshall Harvey and his friend are coming here with a laptop, and we’ll do the little fixes to the Drat! The Cat! video right here. Such are the ways of technology. After that, I can watch, listen, and relax.

The rest of the week is more writing, a video meeting with my PCP, doing a schedule for the Kritzerland show, an early dinner on Friday, and then hopefully picking up two important envelopes on Saturday.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by ten-thirty a the latest, shave and shower, have a lunch meeting, come home, write, do little fixes on a video, then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: Were you a fan of Pee-wee Herman, when did you discover him, and did you continue to be a fan over the years? I will sheepishly admit to having never watched any incarnation of Pee-wee Herman except the first ten minutes of the first movie. Go know. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy that the holiday weekend is behind us, that the week ahead is in front of us, and so on and so forth.
