LET’S JUST GET ON WITH IT

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am a mere ten to fifteen pages away from finishing a book – I don’t think it will be longer than fifteen pages, but you never know. But now it’s late and we have our early and long rehearsal today, so let’s just get on with it, shall we? Sometimes one simply must get on with it. So, I only got five hours of sleep when I was hoping for more. Once up, I answered e-mails and then called Muse Margaret to run an idea I had for something early in the book – said idea would add about four pages, which is the number of pages I’d removed that the Muse thought needed to go and correctly so. She loved the idea, so I spent the next hour rewriting one page, then adding the other three and then I sent that to her. She read it and thought it was perfect and even funny and interesting. So, that was good. I had my Marco’s pepperoni pizza and I have to say and will say it was awful. Not only have they gone downhill, and the price of this tiny pizza is now eighteen bucks, so that’s the last of Marco’s. Not enough sauce, way too much dough and the pepperoni was kind of skanky. After I finished that, I futzed and finessed, then wrote a few new pages. Then I took a book break and did some cutting and pasting. I will have to write new commentary on about six songs, three of which we’ve done before, but I apparently didn’t do a “save as” on a few commentaries so they were nuked. I do have printouts of the last six years, so I found two of those, but I obviously have to retype them. So, it’s taking way more time than it should. I’ve done over half now and should be able to do the other half tomorrow evening at some point in time. Then it was back to the book, and I wrote a total of eleven pages, so that was good. I also had an important telephonic call to see if I could get a blurb that I really want, and the answer was a resounding yes, so that’s great. I also a first attempt at a cover – I certainly like the idea of it, but I’ve asked for a few options, which I usually get – Doug usually sends me at least five options but never just one. It’s not major stuff – the basic design is clean and I like it. I also sent it to Muse Margaret.

Then I finally sat on my couch like so much fish and watched another motion picture – according to Prime it’s a horror thriller entitled Faces in the Crowd, one of those Canadian affairs, this starring Milla Jovovich and a bunch of actors you’ve never heard of and will never want to hear of again and, of all people, Marianne Faithfull. To begin with, there’s no horror and there are no thrills. It’s just bad – bad bad. Laughably bad. I can’t even get into the “plot” – it just gets more ridiculous the longer it goes on and the culprit is no surprise at all. A complete waste of both film and time. It currently holds a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Today, I’ll be up by nine, I’ll shave and shower, I’ll futz and finesse if I have the time, and then we have our rehearsal at eleven, which goes to three-thirty. Then I’ll have a bite to eat, then write new pages. If I’m feeling it, I may just finish it. If not, I’ll watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow, if I haven’t finished the book I definitely will, and then, if I’ve finished, I’ll see if anyone wants to have a celebratory dinner. Monday is our stumble-through, and then Tuesday is sound check and show.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by nine, shave and shower, futz and finesse, have a rehearsal, eat, write new pages, and either finish or watch listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What do you dear readers think of the super popular fast food jernts like Chick-fil-A and Shake Shack, and Five Guys – the higher end places. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, now that I’m finished getting on with it.
