Well, dear readers, I am sitting here like so much fish, listening to nothing, having just finished writing, finally having done more than a handful of pages – eleven to be exact. That’s going to be my goal from now on – ten to fourteen pages a day. I get slowed up having to do research which, thankfully, is all in one place, but it does take time. I tried to find something to watch last night, but I dozed off and then it was too late. I did watch some YouTube videos – mostly David Letterman’s stupid pet tricks bits, and I must say that they’re really funny. I also have been watching some of the Penn and Teller cable show featuring magicians trying to fool them and those are always fun. Otherwise, it was a pretty quiet evening doing pretty quiet things, like writing. Prior to that, I got eight hours of sleep, got up at eleven, answered e-mails, shaved, and then went over to nearby Jinky’s for a lunch meeting, during which I ate lunch, which is what I like to do at a lunch meeting. I had a very tasty Cobb salad with very tasty ranch dressing. I need to go over there for lunch a little more often. The meeting was fun, questions were posed and answered and it’s about a recording project that’s been in the works for a while. We’re looking to do it here in L.A. in the early part of October, presuming we can get all the moving parts in place. We’re thinking about performers right now. I’m thinking about a studio I like here in the San Fernando Valley and the engineer I liked who worked on Sami, since my main engineer doesn’t live here anymore, although he’ll mix the CD. So, that’s happening finally. After the meeting, I came right home and began writing, doing five pages pretty quickly. I took a break, did some other stuff on the computer, wrote three more pages, then sat on my couch like so much fish, dozed off for an hour, watched some videos, and then wrote a few more pages. And here we are.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll write, then I think I’ll be lunching with Robert Yacko, then I was thinking about seeing a play, but I think I’ll put that off for a week and just come home and do more writing. I really have no conception of how long this will be. It could end up short, like 150 pages, or it could end up longer, say 200 to 220 pages. I just can’t even guess at it right now, although I think when I pass page 100, I’ll know more. I’ll take breaks, I’ll have some telephonic calls, and then I can watch, listen, and relax.
Tomorrow, we’ll have our annual Tony Awards Bash – I have no idea how I can watch it yet, but I’ll try and figure out if there’s some free trial thing I can do, otherwise it will be a ME day of mostly writing and trying to do ten to fourteen pages. Then beginning on Monday it’s a really busy week of meetings and meals, telephonic calls, setting appointments for various and sundried things, writing, and also making a show order and writing the commentary.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, write, lunch with Robert Yacko, write, make telephonic calls, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: If you’re eating a big salad in a restaurant, what are your favorites? I love an old-fashioned chef’s salad, a good Cobb, I love shrimp Louie or a combo Louie, I used to love spinach salad and I have no idea why I haven’t had one in over thirty years. All through the seventies and early eighties I ate them regularly at jernts like Old World and Café Figaro and then I just stopped. Do they even make them anymore? Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have finally been on a roll with the writing.
