PUT THE BLAME ON ME

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is late due to it being late and therefore I must write these here notes in a hurry. It’s my fault, completely. I will take the blame for the lateness of the notes. I shan’t put the blame on Mame or Rio or my Youth or the bossa nova – I shoulder the blame, I just do, and as long as I’m shouldering the blame I may as well leg the blame, too. Here’s what happened. When I got home after weeing some one-act plays – WEEING some one-act plays – that sounds very unsanitary – after SEEING some one-act plays, I had some food and then since I was full, I sat on my couch like so much fish to just relax for a few minutes. I turned on the Tube of You and watched a couple of videos about the day that was yesterday. And after about ten minutes of that, I promptly dozed off and when I dozed on it was ten-fifteen. Say what? So, I got up and wrote four more pages for a total of eleven. And that took until just a few moments ago, when I took the blame for the lateness of the notes. But let’s back up, shall we? I got eight hours of good sleep, got up, answered e-mails, and then futzed and finessed quite a bit. Once that was done, then I wrote seven new pages. Then I shaved and showered and got as beautified as I could get given that whatever beauty I once had has gone with the wind and instead of beauty we now have the beast. Oh, there are days when I think I look okay except for my wonky eye and other wonky things and my whale of a tale general appearance as a bloated blimp. But why should I beat myself up about it? I must lose this pandemic weight and that’s all there is to it. These notes are riveting, aren’t they. My eyes are glued to the computer screen (no mean feat) – I thought gluing my eyes to the computer screen would mean no one would have to look at my wonky eye. Where was eye? Sorry, where was I? I saw some one-acts at the Group Rep, gabbed with some folks I knew, then backed my car out of where I was parked, straightened it out and got ready to pull out and turn left. I looked to my left THREE TIMES to make sure there were no cars coming – THREE DAMN TIMES – so, I pulled out and began the turn, only to see a car coming right at me because some bag of snot came out of the nearby alley and turned right going way too fast. Thankfully, both he and I avoided a crash, but I wanted to go after him to let him know he should go back to driving school. I mean, THREE TIMES I looked and there were no cars coming at all – they were all three or four blocks away.

Anyway, that was both scary and irritating. I went to good Gelson’s in the City of Studio and got some creamy tomato soup, a tiny half-rack of ribs that looked pretty good, and a tiny thing of mac and cheese. I also got a little salad from the salad bar for a snack later in the evening. I came home, ate the soup, which was not as good as usual, and then I had the ribs, which were not good – I just think if you don’t get this stuff within the first few hours it’s out, then it just sits there like so much fish and gets – old. Then I had the mac and cheese, which wasn’t their usual type. And it wasn’t as good as their usual type. And the rest you know and now I am sitting here like so much fish trying to get these here notes done as they’re already thirty minutes late.

Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll futz and finesse, I’ll write new pages, I’ll pray for a modern major miracle, which I could really, really, really use, I’ll eat something that’s hopefully light but even more importantly, hopefully good, then I’ll write more, take some breaks, write more and then watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow, I have a work session for the Kritzerland show, then it’s more writing, which will be the order of the day every day this week, I have a blood draw on Wednesday, Thursday is our first Kritzerland rehearsal, then we also rehearse on Sunday. A very busy week and I still have to make a show order and write the commentary.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, futz and finesse, write new pages, pray for a modern major miracle, which I could really, really, really use, eat, write, take breaks, write, and then watch, listen and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, perfectly willing to put the blame on me.
