TOO MANY TYPOS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am sitting here like so much bleary-eyed fish, trying to keep my eyeballs in focus so I don’t have too many typos. Wait – isn’t that a song from Follies?

Too many typos,

Turning words to gobbledygook, it’s true.

How many typos,

Are there still to come?

All those words you can’t understand,

All those words, words that used to be so grand.

All those words, you don’t have a clew,

Words misspelled, as you can see,

Words misspelled in every way,

Words misspelled just look they’re there,

There and clearly on display.

Yes, I thought it sounded familiar. But enough Sondheim, let’s have some damn notes. Last night, for example, I watched more Penn and Teller Fool Us videos – magic is so much fun to watch, especially when they’re performed by people who are brilliant at it. But I dozed off and the next thing I knew it was two hours later. I was already bleary-eyed from having done four HOURS of futzing and finessing over forty pages, but I got it done and I was pretty happy with most of it. Mostly, I added things, cut a few extraneous or poorly written things, cleaned up the verbiage, corrected too many typos from the song of the same name, and just smoothed things out. Prior to all that, I don’t think I got ever five hours of sleep. Once up for good at twelve-thirty, I answered lots of e-mails, ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries from Islands – haven’t ordered from there in years because when I used to every order that arrived was incorrect in some way – and – they’re still at it. No fries anywhere. I got a credit for them, but also called the restaurant and let me tell you how much they don’t give a flying Wallenda. Anyway, the burger was not exactly hot, but it was good nonetheless and lessthenone. After that, I did all that futzing and finessing, had a telephonic call, watched the Penn and Teller videos, dozed off, then did research but this time made two pages of notes so that I can now write at least ten pages without the constant back-and-forth from writing to research. I did write about four new pages and will do a couple more once these here notes are posted and that better be soon, since they’re now late.

Today, I’ll try to be up by eleven at the latest, I’ll futz and finesse however many new pages I end up doing before bed, then I’ll send Muse Margaret about fifty new pages. I’ll go to Gelson’s and get stuff for sandwiches, I’ll hope something nice arrives, I’ll eat, I’ll write some new pages, I’ll hopefully have a call from Muse Margaret, I’ll make some telephonic calls, and then at some point I’ll watch, listen, and relax.

The rest of the week is more writing, making a show order, writing commentary, and seeing a play.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eleven at the latest, futz and finesse, send Muse Margaret new pages, do a Gelson’s run, hope something both nice and important arrives, eat, write new pages, hopefully have a call from Muse Margaret, make some telephonic calls, and then at some point I’ll watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, hoping there weren’t too many typos from the song of the same name.
