Well, dear readers, I am in the Gs. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, I’ve moved from the Fs to the Gs and am just starting to go through the George Szell-conducted music, beginning with monophonic recordings. Now playing Delius’ beautiful Irmelin Prelude, gorgeously played. Szell, of course, should be in any classical music lover’s top ten all-time greatest conductors. One irritant I just discovered, despite my getting a USB-A to C adaptor for the CD drive – an Apple adaptor cord – it won’t work because it doesn’t give enough power to the CD drive. A known problem, but since Apple has discontinued making their CD drive, I’m trying to find the solution – it’s probably out there so I’ll continue to search for it because I must be able to upload CDs into Music. Now, maybe last year’s model had the USB-C cord, and I could get that version, so I’ll check on that. Otherwise, I must find a solution. Oh dear. Now it’s late. I had a telephonic call that lasted about thirty minutes. So, now I’m up against the clock, which the clock doesn’t appreciate because frankly it’s a little too intimate for the damn clock. So, I’ll have to cut to the chase and do half notes. Not quarter notes, mind you, half notes and we’ll go back to whole notes, or footballs as the wags like to call them on the ‘morrow. So, I got about ninety minutes of sleep, at which point I could not get back to sleep, due, I think, to the guacamole I ate too late in the evening. It wasn’t even an upset tummy, really, it was just something that wasn’t sitting well, taste-wise. So, I was up until about eight-thirty. I went back to bed, fell right asleep and got up at eleven-thirty, so four hours of sleep, and then during the day I dozed off for another three hours, but when you sleep piecemeal like that it doesn’t feel like you’ve slept six hours. Once back up at eleven-thirty, I had the first meal of tuna pasta salad and took pill one, Prednisone, and Folic Acid. Then I did some work on the computer and did some organizing in the book room closet. Then I fell asleep. Once up again, I had part two of the tuna pasta salad along with pill two. Then I sat on my couch like so much fish and watched a motion picture entitled Green for Danger, which, surprisingly, I’ve never seen, even though I think I may own a DVD somewhere. It’s a fun movie that doesn’t quite work but is still very enjoyable. Alistair Sim stars along with Trevor Howard and Leo Genn. It has a nice score by William Alwyn. After that, I just relaxed and began listening to music. And here we are.
Today, I’ll be up by ten and I have an eleven o’clock Zoom with my set designer. After that, I’ll eat my first batch of tuna pasta salad, then continue organizing and catching up. I should be hearing another track orchestrated, and I have to have a conversation with my LA engineer at some point. I may or may not go to the mail place, and then I’ll finish off the tuna pasta salad, all pills will be taken, and then I can watch, listen, and relax.
The rest of the week is more of the same, I Zoom on Friday with the neurologist, and I have a lunch thing on the weekend.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by ten, have a Zoom, eat, maybe go to the mail place, have a conversation, eat, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear readers any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, as I now post these half notes.
