Well, dear readers, yesterday was an intriguing day but also frustrating because we couldn’t get to the thing that was intriguing – it’s asking for sign-in information I don’t have – I mean, I have sign-in information for One Drive, where this stuff is residing, but it’s not accepting it – don’t know why, and so far no one has gotten back to me. I don’t even need to sign-in because I need someone else to retrieve the stuff as I won’t be able to send it myself. Sorry to be enigmatic but until we have it in hand and can check it out, I won’t know if we can do anything with it. Hopefully, I’ll have an answer when I get up this morning, if not, I guess I’ll call the person who sent it. All I can tell you is if it IS what I hope it is, it will make me a VERY happy camper. Otherwise, the day was certainly interesting. I only got about an hour of sleep for whatever reason, but finally got an additional three hours. Right now, as of this moment, currently, at this exact time I am listening to some Bruno Walter recordings. Mr. Walter was, of course, the real deal, and knew many of the composers whose works he recorded. Now playing is his wonderful recording of The Moldau, my second favorite recording after Eugene Ormandy, which was my introduction to not only The Moldau but to classical music. From there, there was no looking back. What was left of the day when I finally got up at eleven was catching up on stuff, having a Dino’s pizza lunch – medium pizza but I left two pieces uneaten. It was good, but I think I’m going through a no pizza is satisfying me right now phase. Normally, Dino’s cannot be beaten, but it just didn’t do it for me. The gal whose book I’ve been helping with had asked me weeks ago to do a blurb – I wrote it at that time, looked at it last night, revised a couple of words and sent it to her and she LOVES it because it says everything, you’d want it to say. I’ve learned this from the blurbs I get from people. Some really understand what’s needed, some don’t, but all blurbs are good if they at least make the author or book sound tantalizing. Here’s my blurb.
“Fasten your seatbelts, folks, because you’re in for quite a rollercoaster ride. Linda Hoxit—you may not know the name, but you might recognize the face from TV variety shows, commercials, and theater—Linda’s done it all as a dancer, singer, and actor. What makes her story a little different are the players, her relationships, her navigating the crazy decades of the 70s and 80s, and her coming out of it happy, healthy, and intact. We get intimate details about her relationships with rock star Al Kooper and other rock folks, working with people like Sonny and Cher, Carol Burnett, the Brady Bunch, and many others. We get stories about sexual harassers, her time dating Hugh Hefner’s brother and living at the Playboy Mansion, her travels, the excitement of going to Broadway with a major musical—the whole damn thing, no punches pulled. And along the way, some good life-lessons for aspiring dancer/singer/actors just starting out. All told in a colorful, no-nonsense way that is refreshing in its candor and bold in its truths. It’s also a good deal of fun. Oh, just read it already.”

I did finish The First Omen – very interesting visually and directorially, but a bit of a mess ultimately, until it finally ends and leads right into the opening of The Omen if you put that one on right away. Unlike The Omen, however, this has a lot more graphic violence – it’s basically another in the line of recent female body horror movies, which I just don’t cotton to much. The actors are all good and it doesn’t overstay its welcome, but in the end I just didn’t much care. In other news, as soon as I post these here notes, I’m going to watch Spike Lee’s remake of Kurosawa’s High and Low, based on the Ed McBain (Evan Hunter) classic, King’s Ransom. I did doze off for almost two hours. I took my three pills and the Prednisone, and now have the Folic Acid pill here, which I’ll start tomorrow – it’s not the one I thought it was – that one hasn’t been prescribed yet. This is like a vitamin supplement, so I don’t mind taking that once a day. I ended up not leaving the home environment. That was about it.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, and I hope we can quickly solve the problem getting what we need to get from the One Drive thing. I may or may not go to the mail place, I’ll eat something fun – just not in the mood to go to the Cheesecake Factory – I’ll save that for next week – I’ll continue catching up, and then I can watch, listen, and relax.
The weekend will be mine all mine, then next week I have to go do a CAT scan of my chest for the neurologist – that’s on Tuesday, so that will cause me some anxiety.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, hope we quickly solve the One Drive problem, maybe go to the mail place, eat, catch up, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/Blu and Ray/streaming player? I’ll start – CD, Bruno Walter. Streaming, the Spike Lee movie. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, hoping we can retrieve the thing that will hopefully make me a very happy camper.
