Well, dear readers, in breaking bombshell news, my CAT has been scanned. Thankfully, the traffic on Laurel Canyon wasn’t bad at all in the places (doing down to Sunset) where it usually is. What WAS bad was trying to GET to Laurel Canyon. I usually take Ventura Blvd., but traffic was backed up from Coldwater Canyon about a mile, so I did an instant reversal and took another street PAST Coldwater and then it was okay, but that five-minute drive took twenty – ridiculous. I got to the building on Wilshire Blvd. about forty minutes early, found nice street parking, and just played on the phone until it was time to check in. I had to fill out some paperwork and then I just waited. There were quite a few people there. They got to me about ten minutes past my actual appointment time, but the whole thing went very quickly – the out time was supposed to be eleven-thirty, but I got out ten minutes earlier than that. I had a very nice gal who put a roman numeral in my arm (IV) – I hate needles, but it only stung for a minute. What wasn’t that pleasant was having to put my arms over my head, since it was a chest CAT scan. The arm with the roman numeral (IV) didn’t care for that at all. When they finally released the dye, my body heated up like nobody’s business. They warn you of it, but funnily it didn’t happen when I did the brain CAT scan. Anyway, it was over soon enough, she removed the roman numeral (IV) from my arm, put a tight blue thing around it and that was that. I drove home immediately. No traffic at all. I immediately ordered food – my pasta thing from Stanley’s. It got here fairly quickly, and it was not as good as usual and my tummy wasn’t so happy a few hours later, not that anything bad happened. I’m wondering if the dye crap was still in my system causing me discomfort. Who knows? The Shadow knows. I’d only gotten about five hours of sleep, so I was fairly zonked, and I dozed off for over an hour. At six, I had a couple of spoonfuls of peanut butter and took pill two, Prednisone, and Folic Acid. Then I sat on my couch like so much fish and watched a two-part TV or cable thing called To Catch a Killer, starring Brian Dennehy. The two parts ran three hours sans commercials. It’s about capturing the serial killer John Wayne Gacy. I knew almost nothing about it, so I found it interesting, and Brian Dennehy is terrific as Gacy. Margot Kidder has about ten minutes as a psychic. But it’s all shot in Canada with mostly Canadian actors who just aren’t quite good enough. The lead detective actor, Michael Riley, was decent. The only other notables are Meg Foster and Scott Hylands. It’s not a great movie but I found it interesting and would like to see the upcoming eight-part docuseries on Peacock – I think it starts airing on October 1. I may do a free trial if there’s one available.
After that, I needed some food for pill three, so I ordered a soup and salad combo from House of Pies, and that should be here any minute, which is why I’m writing these here notes earlier than usual.
Today, I’ll be up by ten-thirty at the latest, then on my way to a noon o’clock meeting at the theater with our set designer for the play I’ll be directing, which, by the way, is called The Altruist. It’s suddenly coming up very quickly, as we’ll begin casting at the beginning of October. Yikes. We really must keep mushing forward with the tracks. I think there are another two or three for act one, then a bunch we haven’t even routined for act two, so onward we must go with no delay. After the meeting, if Doug feels like eating, we’ll go get lunch, but if he doesn’t, I’m definitely going to have a nice sit-down meal. I’ll have my two BJ’s gift cards with me, should I want to go there, which I suspect I will. After that, I’ll stop at the mail place, then come home, do whatever needs doing, and then watch, listen, and relax.
The rest of the week is hoping to hear an update on the missing hard drive for the Sherman Brothers thing, or if it can’t be found, then making decisions on how to proceed down a different avenue. I think the weekend is pretty open and may involve a lunch on one of the days.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by ten-thirty at the latest, have a meeting at the theater, lunch, stop at the mail place, do whatever needs doing, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to be done with the scanned CAT and the roman numeral in my arm.
