WHEREFORE ART THOU, SLINKY?

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I can find no evidence that any of us bought a Slinky and therefore we cannot post our photographs of us being Slinkified. There was a time, back in the day of One from Column A by The Real A, if I’d posted that everyone should get a Slinky the entire readership (which was HUGE), would have done so. But – as Cole Porter put it, times have changed. What hasn’t changed is the I didn’t get around to finishing that Play Dirty movie but will today at some point. I spent much of last night dozing on the couch. I did sleep eight hours, the first time that’s happened in over a week, and it needs to keep happening for an entire week, so I can feel back to rights or at least back to lefts. I have a snack on its way, so I’m Evelyn Wood speedwriting as fast as I can – I’m also dancing as fast as I can, but that’s another story. Otherwise, yesterday just sort of existed in a non-existent way. I got up at eleven, watched a boring auction for a while, then got dressed and went next door for a much-needed haircut, which was much needed, haircut-wise. I now look almost humanly human. Not quite, but almost. Once I came back home, I got around to answering e-mails, had no telephonic calls, had a chicken Caesar salad from Stanley’s – very good and hadn’t had it in quite some time – and then I watched a few irritating YouTube videos. Then I dozed off for hours. When I awoke, I was discombobulated and had no idea if it was evening or morning or what. Then I knew there was no time for Play Dirty, so I watched Laurence O’Donnell, who is surely the only voice of reason left on the air. I’d say Rachel Maddow, but her stuff never comes across my YouTube feed, which is odd. But O’Donnell will go down as a hero for his diatribes, which are reasoned and right, always. He is especially right in The New York Times being derelict in taking on Trump and same with the Washington Press Corps. He rightly points out that Trump, using his government social media account paid for by taxpayers to curse and rail and call his opponents “vermin.” From the Times – crickets. From the press corps – crickets. But when Hillary Clinton, in a PRIVATE donor event called certain people in Trump’s base deplorable the Times and the press corps was all over it, daily, in every way. It’s truly nauseating and should be no matter what your politics are. I watched a couple of high-speed chases that thankfully ended in arrests. That was really about it.

Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, but I really just need to rest and catch up on sleep. For food, I’ll definitely make the pasta with pink sauce and then I’ll watch, listen, and relax.

The weekend is open, and I want to keep it that way. Then next week is very busy, including our first day of casting.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, eat, rest, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/Blu and Ray/streaming player? CD, Philippe Sarde, his latest score. Streaming, Play Dirty. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I shall have Slinky in hand and ready to be Slinkified.
