Well, dear readers, I must write these here notes in a hurry as I must be up early for our ten o’clock rehearsal, for which I must be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, not necessarily in that order. In the background is Ruth Gipps’ fourth (of five) symphonies – what fun it’s been hearing these beautiful works in the pastoral mode. I, myself, am in a pastoral mode. But let us talk about yesterday so that we can talk about today. I got eight and a half hours of sleep, got up, answered e-mails, then had Maria’s Kitchen for food – not her actual kitchen but the pappardelle with sausage and tomatoes in a slightly pink sauce. It was excellent and very filling. After that, I moseyed on over to the mail place and shipped out a couple of packages even though out never ships me a damn thing. I came back home, got our teaser poster for the show, so here it is.
Isn’t that fun? I had no telephonic calls at all, I paid some bills, which I HATE doing, including the pressing bill for The House that Dripped Blood, which I’m still convinced we have copies of – but it’s been getting consistent orders on eBay, so we needed to get more. I keep hoping another big ticket item will sell – the bargain is, of course, for those who care, the last of the Kiki’s Delivery Service cels – Heritage Auctions recently had an anime auction with a ton of Miyazaki cels – the Kiki’s cels brought in insane money – one went for 40K – one that was like mine but not as good went for 16K. Mine is priced at $1,999 with a “make offer” possible. For one of that quality, there are none cheaper and most are in the 5 to 10K range. I currently have about eight people “watching” it. The first one went very quickly – less than I wanted but it went. I’ll be putting up more fun stuff on Sunday and Monday. Starting to go through the garage boxes – tons of wacky and fun stuff out there. Also thinking about putting up some of my bound volumes of magazines and comics. I have tons of them, including the first 68 volumes of Video Watchdog, which I never look at, but a fabulous magazine with so much valuable information. Anyway, I dozed off for a bit, couldn’t find a damn thing to watch, and so I played on the Internet, watched a few irritating YouTube videos, shaved, and here we are.
Today, I’ll be up by eight-thirty and out the door by nine-fifteen, I’ll get everything set up, and at ten we’ll warm up, review everything we’ve done, then move onto the act two finale and at least three other numbers. I may even do a scene or two. After that, I may go have a sit-down lunch somewhere, then come home and watch, listen, and relax.
Tomorrow and Monday are ME days, but I’ll be prepping stuff for next week’s rehearsals and making that schedule, I still have no assistant director, which is maddening, we still need one guy and one gal, which is maddening, but we’ll figure all that out.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eight-thirty and out the door by nine-fifteen, get everything set up, review, move on to new stuff and do as much as we can in our allotted time, have food, then come home and watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite “saying” – homilies – the ones that your parents used to use, the ones you hated, the ones you still like to use, and the ones that make you laugh. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I shall endeavor to be bright-eyed and especially bushy-tailed.
