THE DO IS DONE AND MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL MERRY CHRISTMAS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, the Do is Done and a fine Do it was, despite the lowest attendance we’ve ever had. Gone are the days of fifteen, twenty, thirty people. I actually prefer fifteen to thirty – more manageable – but we had several cancellations, including the Pearls, Kay Cole, Adryan Russ and her husband, and Alby Potts – they rarely miss, but they got scared because of the weather idiots’ dire predictions of flooding and evactuations. Well, it stopped raining at two in the afternoon and never returned. But they thrive on panic, these weather idiots. They find the two places where there was some flooding and act like it’s a pandemic. One idiot actually used the words “shelter in place.” I reiterate, not one drop of rain since two in the afternoon. I made enough food for many more people – the fact is, I’m going to start doing what I’ve never done before – make people RSVP so I don’t overcook like this. But the conversation was fun and I think everyone had a good time and they did partake of the food. In fact, almost all of the first batch of tuna pasta salad was consumed. Tons of sauce left over, not to mention pasta. My voice was pretty shot, which I’m so irritated about – in fact, I am completely sick of not feeling up to par, with tummy issues, with the hand issues, which got so bad at one point last night that I had to leave the room. We had some fun desserts in addition to the chocolate donuts I always have – tiramisu, peanut butter pie from House of Pies, freshly baked cookies. So, our merry troupe who were NOT intimated by the dire false predictions, consisted of Marshall Harvey, April Audia and her hubby, Wendy Horowitz, the lady I’ve been helping ID photos for the downtown library, our own Amy and Mark, Lloyd Petersen, li’l ol’ me, and eventually Robert Yacko. With the no-shows, we would have been thirteen. And guess what I forgot to do, even though I kept thinking, “I have to do this.” Photographs. Not one. So sorry. Anyway, I thought the sauce came out really well.

I got a little over ten hours of sleep, arising a little after noon o’clock. I immediately made the sauce, which took about thirty minutes, and then it was simmer all afternoon. Then it was raining pretty good until two, so I just moved the stuff that was going to the garage into my bedroom closet. The house was then pretty clean and organized, although the partay stayed exclusively in the living room. I shaved and showered and dressed nicely in black slacks and green sweater. Then April and her hubby were the first to show up around six-fifteen. So, we ate right away, but most of the others showed up soon thereafter. There were many laughs throughout the evening, and that partay then broke up right at ten. Normally, I would clean up now, but there’s not that much to clean up. The sauce is in the fridge, along with the leftover desserts, and the only real cleanup mess is the pot the spaghetti was in. The pasta will still be fine for tomorrow, but then that pot is easy to deal with. Normally, it’s a real mess here, so that part is good as I’m really not in the mood to clean anything. What I am in the mood for is to feel better. My next appointment with my neurologist is end of January, but I’m hoping for a cancellation before that, because while I am beyond grateful for my eye and speech issues to be completely better, I am not grateful for the other problems that have been introduced by the meds. We’ll see if he has any solutions, especially for the hand thing. But also, the tummy problems I’m having.

Today, well, I do believe it’s Christmas, so Merry Christmas, dear readers, and I hope it IS merry and joyous and filled with merriment and mirth and laughter and legs. I have not heard a peep or even a peepette from the Darling Daughter, so I don’t know what’s going on with her. I apologize in advance, but I cannot type anymore. This is the worst it’s ever been. Merry Merry and signing off for now. If it gets better, I’ll come back and do the last paragraph.

Well, dear readers, a moment of respite – so, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eleven-thirty for the noon arrival of the Darling Daughter, we’ll do our thing, whatever it may be – either go out for a bite or have spaghetti and tuna pasta salad here, perhaps go for one of our nostalgia drives, and then she’ll head back to her mother’s home environment and I really will need to shut my mouth until Saturday afternoon. If I can’t do the vocal then, I’ll just nuke the song from the album. Today’s topic of discussion: Let’s hear all about your Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy that the Do is Done and wishing everyone the merriest of Merry Christmases.
