Well, dear readers, I have breaking bombshell news – it is September. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, it is September, and it is my fervent hope and prayer that September will be a month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful. Shall we try to remember the kind of September when life was slow and oh so mellow? Because life sure isn’t slow now. Look at August. It flew by, like a gazelle being a first amendment auditor and being trespassed in the State of Louisiana whilst eating a shrimp po’ boy and a beignet. That sounds good, doesn’t it? I’m trying to remember not only the kind of September when I was a tender and callow fellow, I’m trying to remember if I watched a motion picture last night. If I did, I have no memory of what it might have been. I did watch about thirty minutes of Beach Blanket Bingo, starring Frankie and Annette, directed by the man who created Bewitched, William Asher, and also starring Buster Keaton and Paul Lynde, both of whom seem to think they’re in other movies, and Harvey Lembeck as Erich von Zipper. The latter is very funny, at times totally channeling Phil Silvers and at other times giving comedy takes a whole new meaning. He was also one of the nicest people ever and a great Sancho Panza in the national tour of Man of La Mancha with Richard Kiley and Joan Diener. I think that was about it for watching other than some YouTube videos I discovered a couple of nights ago, by someone called Vegas Matt. They long videos of him either winning or losing money in Vegas casinos, playing the slots. You can see just how addicting that can be, which is why I don’t do that. In one video, he wins a jackpot of $87,000. But he also routinely says he dropped 30K in one night. One wonders where all this dough comes from for him to play in the high stakes slots rooms. He was fun to watch the first couple of times, but he’s really quite obnoxious. He has a lot of followers, but I don’t think he gets enough views to make much on YouTube, but I don’t know enough about that world to really know. Anyway, I don’t really recommend it because you’ll end up wasting too much of your time. But if you’re curious, just search Vegas Mike on the Tube of You. I think that was pretty much about it as far as last night goes.
Yesterday was a pretty irritating day. I only got five hours of sleep because my moron neighbors had the tree trimmers making way too much noise for almost the entire day, so I couldn’t even go back to sleep. So, I was up at nine, I answered e-mails, I did things that needed doing, then I called the mail place only to be told the mailbox was empty – in other words, no important envelopes, which always makes me very nervous. So, my going over there didn’t happen and I didn’t leave the home environment for the third day in a row. In terms of food, nothing sounded appealing to me, so Western Bagel was having an unusual 35% off sale, so I got bagels and cream cheese and had several over the course of the day. They were very good – and no, I didn’t eat them ALL, although I may have eaten one too many. I also got some freshly baked peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies from a nearby jernt called cookie monsta. I may have eaten one too many of those two, but you’ll be happy to know I did not eat them all. Of course, my stomach and that much sugar are uneasy dance partners.
I did some nice amount of work on the project with David Wechter and finished the section I was doing, so he’s now writing his section, then we’ll proceed from there. Then I made the attempts at watching, had a couple of telephonic conversations, and the rest you know.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll check with the mail place and pray that the two important envelopes are there – send some extra vibes and xylophones in that regard – and hopefully they will be and I can go get them and then do my banking, which will make the long weekend easier. I’ll eat something amusing, and then I can watch, listen, and relax. And my mantra for September will be, try to remember the kind of September when I was just a whole lot thinner. Goal for September – losing ten pounds. Same goal for October and November.
Not sure what’s happening on the weekend, but I’m sure I’ll be writing, hopefully I’ll get proofer two’s fixes so I can get those entered and then I can get the book designed, hoping to see a final version of the cover, am asking some folks to blurb it, and watching what I eat and trying to forego sweets altogether. I must be strong and strong I must be.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, check with the mail place and pray that two important envelopes are there, bank, eat, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/Blu and Ray/streaming device? I’ll start – CD, 70, Girls, 70. Streaming, I know not. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I shall try to remember the kind of September we all need now – and it is my fervent hope and prayer that September will be a month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful.
