Well, dear readers, I must write these here notes in a hurry because we start rehearsals at eleven and I must be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, not necessarily in that order. So, let’s just breeze along with the breeze, notes-wise, by saying I got seven hours of sleep. I got up, answered e-mails, futzed and finessed, and sent fifty pages to Muse Margaret. I told her I wouldn’t be back until three. Then I got ready, and I left for the blood draw. The drive there wasn’t too bad, save for some idiot drivers and Wilshire Blvd. being a complete mess because of the subway line that’s being put in there – that’s been going on for, I don’t know, three YEARS now? But I got there in plenty of time, found a very nice parking space, and got up there just in time to check in. They came to get me, and I was in and out in ten minutes. The shot stung a bit more than usual, but it all went quickly and the gal who drew was very nice. Then I began the journey back and that wasn’t too bad either. I picked up a small package from dear reader Michael Shayne – three DVDs – and I’m not sure why he sent them as there was no note inside. I’ll check ‘em out tonight if I can. I ordered some Uptown Mac and Cheese from Granville – haven’t had it in quite a while. It also has asparagus, peas, and chunks of chicken in it and it’s quite tasty. That was pretty much it for food. I didn’t want to write new pages until I heard from Muse Margaret, but I never did hear from her – sometimes she can’t get to reading the pages right away – hopefully, I’ll hear from her today. So, I began new pages, and I did eight, but I’m in a really weird place in the book, trying to figure out how long this sequence should be – I don’t really want it to be long, frankly. I may try to do two more pages after posting these here notes. I had to take a break, so I sat on my couch like so much fish and watched one of those paranoid government conspiracy thrillers that were so prevalent in the 1990s – you know, shadow government villains who don’t like the president and where he’s taking the country – you know, the kind of president that is actually for the people. The movie is entitled Shadow Conspiracy, and stars Charie Sheen, Donald Sutherland, Linda Hamilton, and Sam Waterston. It’s a 1997 movie. I always enjoy these kinds of movies no matter how bad they are, and this one is quite bad bordering on terrible. I have never found Mr. Sheen a likeable actor, so that was a slight problem, and if you don’t know who the chief villain is within ten minutes then you really must turn in your government conspiracy thriller card – that goes for the other people who are in on the villainy. On Rotten Tomatoes it holds an astonishing 7% rating. It’s one awful review after another, all well deserved. The big climax is so bad that you might think you’re watching a Zucker Brothers film. And now, here we are.
Today, I’ll either be up at eight or nine, I’ll shave and shower, hopefully hear from Muse Margaret, futz and finesse, and then we have our first Kritzerland rehearsal from eleven to three-thirty. Then I’ll order food, eat, and start writing new pages and probably do that for the rest of the evening, until I watch, listen, and relax.
Tomorrow, I can really get some writing done, but I also have to get the commentary done, too. Saturday is the same schedule as today, then I can write up a storm on Sunday, Monday is our stumble-through, and then Tuesday is sound check and show.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must for example, be up between eight and nine, shave and shower, futz and finesse, hopefully hear from Muse Margaret, have a rehearsal, eat, write new pages, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What’s your favorite kind of mac and cheese – are you a purist, do you like things in it, all things mac and cheese. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have the drawing of the blood over and done with.
