Well, dear readers, first, apologies for the lateness of the notes – they were written and ready to post at midnight, as usual, but I couldn’t get into the WordPress sign-in page. Our host couldn’t figure out the problem and said it would have to be this morning. I just got into it. So, the notes.
Well, dear readers, three hours of sleep does not cut the mustard. It does not cut the ketchup. It does not cut the cheese. Especially when you’re exhausted. But that’s what happened yesterday – three hours of sleep followed by a horrid allergy attack, one of the worst that’s still hovering all these hours later. My throat is raw, which will make it hard to fall asleep and stay asleep. Even though I’m not supposed to have another Claritin-D until 6:30 in the morning, I’ll probably take it before bed. I’ve been sucking Ricolas all day to try to soothe the throat – not doing much in that regard. I’m loading up on Sambucol, too. And I don’t care who knows it – I don’t even care who nose it. Feh, I say. Did you know that feh spelled backwards is my old friend Hef? Anyway, I was up at six, was out of Claritin-D so I had to get dressed and go to CVS and get some. I came right back home and took a twenty-four-hour pill. It took about three hours to actually kick in, so there was no going back to sleep. So, I buckled down, Winsocki and finished proofing the book. I’m sure there’s still lots of stuff to fix – that’s always the way, but the book is not with the two proofers who are proofing merrily as they roll along. I also got an inspired idea for another blurb person, since I clearly was not going to hear from the one other person I’d e-mailed. So, I e-mailed the person and within two minutes the person e-mailed back and said yes, that they’d love to read the book and write a blurb. Now, normally I would not send the book to blurbers yet – I usually do that after we all finish proofing. But I did send it along with a note that it hadn’t been properly proofed yet, and so there may be typos, grammar and punctuation issues, and stuff like that. I mean, after I proofed, I don’t think there’s any huge issues that would make things hard to understand. Then I sent the book to the two proofers for proper proofing. I dozed off for about forty minutes, and then I had to be on my way to a lunch meeting with Richard Allen, to discuss the show I’ll be directing at the start of November, a black comedy with a bunch of songs – public domain things with parody lyrics. Richard will be doing tracks for the show and thankfully it’s a show where the tracks will make sense. We went to Barone’s, and both had the amazing carbonara and we split an order of garlic bread. Very potent, the garlic bread and I still reek of it. But boy was it good. After that, I went to the mail place and picked up a nice green envelope with a nice small residual for The Faculty. Then I went and put it in the ATM and then came home.
I was still exhausted, and my throat was raw and annoying. I did doze off a few times while watching various YouTube videos. And that was pretty much it.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, and then all I’ll be doing today is choosing some songs for the July Kritzerland and doing a flyer so we can get tickets up for sale. I’ll eat and then at some point I’ll watch, listen, and relax.
Tomorrow is more of that but not doing too much, and then the weekend is all me all the time. Monday, it’s back to the eye doctor to see if things have improved. If they haven’t, we’ll need to talk about the surgery. I also want to ask him about cataract surgery, although I’m told while I have them, they’re mild. I also need to make an appointment with the dermatologist and the neural specialist.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, choose songs, get a flyer done, eat, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: How many here have used Flonase and did it work for you? Thinking of getting some today. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, hoping these damn allergies abate soon.
